This is getting annoying...

Driving down the hill to work today and heard a "pop", then the "warning battery generator" error code came up. Had the car towed for the 3rd time since Oct (AOS, AMS failures) to the dealership where I purchased it. I've got the extended warranty but I'm at the end of my tether with testing rental cars. I suspect serpentine belt, or water pump has failed somewhere.

Anybody know of a good Porsche mechanic near Orange County, San Diego CA area who can perform a thorough inspection?

Since it's under warranty, don't sweat it personally. I would have a word with the service shop manager though...

IIRC the lemon law says the car has to be in the shop for non-routine maintenance for 3 (4?) weeks out of a year.

I almost got to take advantage of that law once, but the dealer "knew" their time limit was coming.

The result? The car was in the shop less than the lemon law rules. AND they did a very impressive job on a new transmission, new hoses, new radiator, and new ECU. Nary an oil leak after that "last" service and not a hint of a problem with the car.

Thanks for the reply, that's some good information. I wonder if the lemon law requires the 3-4 weeks to be consequitive?

Latest update, it was the water pump that went, will be replaced under warranty.

I'm considering installing the low temperature thermostat from LN engineering at the same time. Does anybody have any thoughts on this, any performance, improved engine reliability?

Thanks,

Alex
