Boxster Audio Ignition Switched Power

Recommended Posts

Have upgraded a 2004 Boxster sound system (jl amps, pioneer avic130bt,focal speakers) using several of the diys posted here as guidance. my question is, has anyone figured out how to wire the switched power so that the stereo stays powered until you remove the key from the ignition switch? Thanks.

I tried the switched power source under the center console on my MY03's AVIC-Z110BT installation and found like you that the system was switched off when the ignition switch was turned off. So, to get the navsystem to stay powered until the key was withdrawn, I had a Porsche technician run the system's red power wire down to the fuse panel and attach it to the radio fuse position. The`technician used a voltmeter to ensure the wire was connected to the proper side (power stayed on until the key was removed) of the fuse. It took less than a half a hour.

There are two wires on the black Avic harness that plugs into the back of your new Pioneer radio, the red is for "ACC" or switched power and the yellow is for "Battery" or constant power. I'm not sure if you have the adapter plug for your Porsche A plug (also black) or if you cut off the black A plug, either way pin #4 or thick red/black wire from Porsche Black "A" plug goes to "Battery" and pin #7 or orange wire from Porsche Black "A" plug goes to "ACC" or switched power.

Once turned on the radio will stay on until key is removed from ignition.
