My alarm goes off at random

Recommended Posts

Could use a little help!

My alarm is randomly going off. The doors lock, the alarm sets, and no horn beep as normal. After an hour or two, the alarm just starts honking so I can't leave my car locked anywhere.

Hooked up my Durametric and got alarm code 60 (frequency 1) and alarm code 33 (frequency 2). Thought I could set the alarm and check frequencies again once it went off, but they did not increment.

Next step is to set the alarm and disable the interior motion to see if it still goes off.

Do not think it's related, thought I'd mention it though, but the car was recently in the shop for a clutch/AOS/IMS Retrofit/RMS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Fault code 33 - Passenger compartment: monitoring sensor faulty

Replace the passenger compartment motion sensor.

Fault code 60 - Central locking limit position 'Locked' not reached

Possible cause of fault

- Central locking switch faulty

- Short circuit to ground/open circuit in wiring between the alarm system control module, central locking switch or door locks

- Driver's/passenger's door lock faulty

- Control module faulty

Thanks Loren! Also my stock stereo has been occasionally sounding like there is interference for about 5-10 seconds. I am going to order the stereo removal tools and pull the stereo to check the wiring there as well, Going to try to set the alarm tonight and disable the motion sensor to see if it still goes off to help isolate the source of the issue.

Loren, i set the alarm with the double key press to disable the interior motion sensor and the alarm never triggered. My assumption is the interior sensor or the radio connection. Do you know if the radio alarm wire is tied to the interior alarm?

Thanks Loren! It is the stock radio, but it has been making a loud interference noise at random which is why iI thought it might be the cause. Is there a test procedure for the interior sensor (I assume this is the one behind the alien eyes) or do I jusr have to replace it? Is there a good resource for listing the switches and sensors and what alarm code/zone is generated with each?

I don't think the radio problem is related then.

There is no procedure for a fault 33 - it states that the passenger side sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. Yes it is behind the "alien eyes" - do a search as others here have replaced the same sensor.

Hi DFC

Looks like we're having similar problems although we share only one code. I've posted in the thread Removal of CDR-220 Becker and Alarm which is just below yours.

Very frustrating. Like you I was hoping that the frequency counter would increase so I can isolate the problem. I'm going to try Durametric 6 asI believe it can clear all the alarm codes and then see if it increments.

Let us know if you solve it.
