wheel and tire value?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Just looking for some guidance in setting a value on 4 OEM rims and winter tires. I'm in Toronto and thinking of selling them, they came with my 996 and I have not, and likely never will use them.

They were on the car one season only, by the first and only other owner. (A friend of mine). He only drove about 100 miles total, as he had another car for winter and only took the 996 out for a run every few weeks just to keep the battery charged etc. After the first season he stored the car each winter, and I have done the same. The set were bought from a Porsche dealer as their recommended winter wheels/tires for the 996. Any clue what these tires and rims might be worth?

Rims- OEM 18" Cayenne S (I assume these are the rims I have as they are identical to those online, see pic) Excellent condition, barely a scratch.

Tires- Dunlop Grandtrek WT MZ. 235/65/18 (Easily 95% tread left)

I figure the tires were about $200 each new, so it's really the rims I need a value on.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

They are worthless...I'll send you my address so you can ship them to me. :D Okay, more seriously, I would figure you could get about $1200 -$1400 for the full wheel/tire combination. Why not post on PCA Panorama and see what you can get? Somebody might be looking for a winter combo.

How old are the tires? If they are 5 or 6 years old, they are worthless, and should not be used, regardless of thread depth. You can check for the DOT stamp on the sidewall to see the year and week produced. Nice rims. They will sell for about $1,000-1,200. Lots of Porsche OEM rims out there.

FWIW, I bought a set of the same wheels from my Porsche dealer that were "as new" take-offs from a new Cayenne. The buyer upgraded and these wheels were removed. They were perfect. I paid $500 for the set, without center caps or tires. My dealer actually had two sets at that price when I bought them.
