Central locking problem 996 C2 2001

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My remote lock/unlock no longer works (2001, C2 996). I had not driven the car for about a week, so went through the routine of unlocking with key and turning the switch to position 1. No dramas, fired up, drove it fine, but it now won't lock or unlock with the remote.

I've changed the remote battery; the central locking operates when the car moves off, the windows drop/raise at all the right times, the locking rocker switch on the dash works fine, both doors lock/unlock with the key.

I've read the excellent blog on door micro-switches, but it doesn't address this problem, although in the past I have had the issue where it would remote lock, double-beep and then unlock. That problem just went away one day.

Any ideas ??

Cheers,

Guy

Try flipping the battery, then replacing (worked on one old key). Or other remedy (which did not work for me) is to turn ignition one click and press the unlock button.

Otherwise suck it up for a new remote internals. I fought it for 4 months but eventually that was the only solution.

Sunset or Suncoast Porsche give discounts. Still Probably cost ~$130 for key head and ~100 to have dealer program it. Don't buy one from ebay, etc... unless it has the 17? digit code with it, or you will just have another key fob decoration.
