alarm feature

It does not work with the top down. You could somehow keep that little switch (where the roof latch locks in) pressed down. I would also like to know how it can be enabled. Someone could just walk up and take my wind buffer, and sell it for $100!

I think you can buy the part that sticks in the hole where the top latch goes, if you install the tonell cover I think you can use it?

What year/model/country/market is your car? On my 2002 UK Boxster S, the motion sensor works with the top open or closed.

However, I've heard that the American guys use something known as the 'Red Clip' - a factory part that clips over the top latch and holds the microswitch in.

The motion sensor is enabled by a switch that is closed by the top latch engaging the recess. You can get a red plastic clip that fits on, depresses the switch and makes the alarm think the top is closed.

I bought one for $5.00 here in Canada so prob about three bucks in the states. I don't have the part # but just go to the dealer and mumble about a clip and point lots towards your car and he'll figure out what you want.

Warning- the motion sensor will take a moment to trigger the alarm, I wouldn't leave your digital camera etc. on the seat while you run into the store!
