Clutch Hydraulic line Removal

Recommended Posts

I was attemprting to change the master cylinder in my 99 Boxster. I could not get the feed line from the reservoir to the mast cylinder line. My Bentley book said to press the spring clip and pull. Well, I pressed and pulled and pulled and press and got no where. Now the plastic spring clip looks mashed up. I can't get it off the small line that goes to the master cylinder under the dash. I have two questions: 1- How do I get this line off and 2- Do I need to buy a replacement, and if so what is the part #?

The black line. I chewed up the plastic spring clip by pressing and pulling so much. I just would not budge. I managed to get the line off, but broke the plastic clip at edge.

The line is not expensive, less than $30 at retail, and I think it comes with the clip.  Sometimes lines that have been in place for a long time don't give it up easily and need to be replaced.

Hello JFP, I ordered the replacement hydraulic line from the clutch master cylinder to the hydraulic fluid reservoir and removed the cover surrounding the reservoir but I cannot not easily determine how to disconnect the hose from the reservoir. Can you explain how to disconnect the existing hose from the reservoir? Also, how do I reconnect the new hoses? Are they just push in and snap?

Thanks

On your car, I believe the line from the reservoir is a push on at the reservoir end with a small spring clamp.  The other ends just push on and snap in place.
