Loren & gang...HELP!!!

I recently bought sideskirts from internet vendor who advertised them as '99-01 RUF sideskirts. What I received yesterday was looks more like aero I side skirts than the RUF type I've seen in the catalog.

As I looked over the skirts I found the following:

986.559.981.00

(wouldn't a RUF part No. appear somewhere if it really was a RUF skirt???)

along with a little matrix imprinted on the inside that looked like this:

I assume that means production in Feb of 1997...so how could these be RUF skirts for 99-01????

Loren, can you please tell me if that part number is even for a 996 or is it for a boxster? And, if its the P/N for a Aero I skirt?

Is the matrix something that Porsche produces on a part like this?

ALL help is mucho appreciated!

That part number does not come up in the parts system. The early Boxster side skirts were 986 559 983 00 and 986 559 984 00 (left and right sides).

Carrera side skirts all start with 996 559 983 xx and 996 559 984 xx.

That may be the raw (pre coated) part number for a Boxster side skirt. Unless that is the basis for the RUF side skirt (they build on to that) it will not likely fit a Carrera.
