Cayenne 957 H7 to bi-xenon headlights upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am the owner of Cayenne 957 facelift model. I would like to replace my H7 projector headlights with bi-xenon headlights from the same car model.

Can anybody help me and advise which exactly pins should be re-connected in original plugs as to allow the bi-xenon headlights to work.

I do not want to install self-positioning system, just replace the headlights.

I would really appreciate your help.

Regards,

Can anyone help with determining how to change the order of the cables in the plugs to connect bi-xenon headlights
instead of normal H7 lamps in Cayenne 957 (9PA1)?
Loren, I know you are one of the most helpful person at this forum. I hope you would be willing to help this time :)

Unfortunately, this swap is a bit more complicated as the factory HID lights use control modules and igniters that have to be installed in order for these lights to work, and the car has to be coded with a PIWIS to switch from halogen to factory bi-xenon lights or the system will code on you.

You might consider installing one of the many HID upgrade kits which are available on Ebay, Amazon etc.

They are a vast improvement and do not require coding

In many states these upgrades are illegal due to excessive glare as the headlight's do not have the correct projectors to create the proper beam cut off.  Absolute ticket bait as well.

I can understand why reflector headlights can create glare when converted to HID but projector headlights are ideal for the conversion. I have done it a few times on different cars with no problems.

It is more than just glare, my license to conduct what you would call an MoT inspection requires me to fail cars with modified headlights or headlights components that lack our DOT approval marking.  Police here can also require the vehicle be towed and repaired to factory specs before being allowed back on the roads.

Ah I see - the UK is a little more forgiving when it comes to this sort of thing. It also helps if you know the MOT tester ?

With headlights, as long as you have the correct beam pattern and have it adjusted to the correct height - you are fine. The daft thing is, as long as you have the correct spec at the time of the test, you are then free to go home and change it back again!
