Porsche Boxster 986 PSE retrofitting

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and the ownership of a Porsche.

I bought a 986 Boxster S from 2000 recently and in the deal was the original PSE included in parts. The previous owner has had it installed, but never wired it up properly.

Now I want to install it, but I have difficulties hooking up the electrical and pneumatic part of the system, since I want to be able to open and close the exhaust from inside the cabin.

I looked up several sources and found that I would need the following parts:

99661298003 - wiring harness

99661298001 - wiring harness

99661898003 - relais

99661398710A05 - switch

My question now is do I need all these parts and if so, is someone able to give me some instructions regarding the installation process of these parts? Or installation instructions for the whole PSE?

Do I really need the relais? I have heard it is only there to turn off the exhaust when driving 50 to 70 km/h  and it is only needed in Switzerland.

The wiring harnesses are rediciously overpriced though.. I think I will make my own.

Best regards

Victor

Hi Victor.

I have the same problem.

In my case the previous owner install all part except the switch on the dashboard.

I would have the control of the system by the switch, but I don't know what parts I need in order to complete the installation.

The relais installed is 99661898002.

Have you find the solution of this isuue?

Thank you in advance.

Regards

Gabriele

Hi Loren, sorry if I disturb you but I'm in trouble with the switch connection.

Enclosed you will find the actual connection in my Porsche Boxster 986 S (Impianto attuale.pdf).

I'm not able to follow the previous diagram because of different wire colours and I don't wont to make a mistake.

Can you help me in found the right way to connect the switch? (step by step connection/disconnection)

Thank you in advance

Best regards

Gabriele
