2004 Cayenne Rear tail lights, brake lights and backup lights stay on

Recommended Posts

vehicle parked for 2 weeks, found all rear lights including backup lights stay on and lift-gate actuator continuously operates. Key fob not working. Vehicle starts and drives. Replaced key fob batteries, checked vehicle battery 12.4 volt. Checked for water under left front carpet. Right carpet wet. Could someone give solutions to the problem. Would be great full.

Normally when we see electrical anomalies on Cayennes we think battery. - as a weak battery does cause all kinds of strange electrical issues.

My concern here would be the wet carpet which indicates a drain (or drains might be clogged).

You will likely need  Durametric or PIWIS to find what faults are occurring and where. But get the leak fixed first -- then search for damage or corrosion on electrical boards or connectors.

Thanks Loren, I made repairs to all electrical spliced wires on the left and right wiring harnesses under the carpet. All rear lights still on. The lift gate closing actuator operates continuously. The battery is full charged. Unplugged brake light switch. Remote key fobs not working. Vehicle starts, get warning brake proportioning message, brake light flashing, stuck in park. Reviewed most forms on the wiring .

Could anyone let me know if there is a relay for the remote lock-unlock system, since the lights are activated when the remote lock-unlock under normal conditions.

what electrical system should I look for and test.

Thanks

Has anybody figured this out yet?? I was sitting in mine with key off and all of a sudden there was a loud horn (different sound from regular horn) I started the car and the horn shut off within 100yrds.  I drive home and turned key off to find all rear lights on, rear wiper on, and neither tailgate nor hatch will close. Latch is stuck in open position on both!! I'm thinking rear comfort module but I'm not really sure
