Oil Leak on Trans Cooler Bracket

Recommended Posts

The Porsche is a 996.2 with Tiptronic transmission. I am in need of some expert advice regarding a trans oil cooler leak I have. It appears that the Trans oil cooler mounting bracket has a slight leak. According to the shop technician it is like a freeze plug on the mounting casting. They tried a crap repair by putting JB weld all over the area (see picture). Well that failed. It is leaking around it. So the challenge to the group is, what is your suggestion for a repair method. One strange thing is the oil cooler mounting is a solid part of the differential and cannot be replaced. All good ideas are welcomed.

Thanks for the quick response. This is a 2002. I thought that the holding bracket should be removable too. For some reason on the car the bracket is part of the transaxle casting and not removable. See pic. Very weird. That is part of my problem can not remove it for replacement so looking at some fix in the casted area.  It does beg the question if this is the original Transmission. That's for another time.

Thanks
