Help! Window goes all the way down when opening the door.

Recommended Posts

Good morning,

I have a 2003 and the passenger window would go all the way down after a pause at the  1/4"-1/2" mark when you open the door.  It will do this even just by me activating the microswitch (without opening the door) on either the outside or inside door handle.   A  relay appears to click about 5 times after the window is all the way down.  I can stop the problem by lowering the window about 1/2" from the top.

Seems like auto down is stuck on down when the micro switches are activated.   The regulator is about 2 years old and appears to be working properly.

Very annoying to have to roll the window back up whenever the passenger door is used.  On the bright side, it cools the car down on hot days 🙂 (on one side)

Please help.

Try to reset the window limits.  Push the button to close and when it has reached the limit continue to hold the up button for 10 seconds.  Do the same for down, push down and hold the button for 10 seconds after it is down.

Thanks for the input everyone.  Tried resetting the limits, and disconnecting the battery and resetting afterwards.  Still the same.  I will check with durametric that I have and report back.

As promised, no real module for window functions in durametric and no fault codes in any of the modules.

However, I went ahead and ran "erase fault codes" in the two alarm modules..

Since the reset, the window have been functioning normally.  Don't know if it is a coincidence or actual resolution.

Will test it out some more and hoping for the best.

Thanks everyone.
