08 wont start after putting fuel in.

Hello a friends 08 Cayenne S is having a strange problem. he tells me if he drives up to the gas statation and shuts the car off and removed the gas cap and puts gas in the car it wont start right away he needs to crank it over for a few then it starts and it will start fine from now on till he puts gas in the truck again. 

 

Here is what I'm thinking.

with the cap on I guessing we have a positive pressure in the tank and that primes the low pressure pump to get fuel to the high pressure pump. when he open's the fuel cap he losses this pressure and the pump losses it prime.

You are likely on the right path.

Measure the fuel flow - one or both fuel pumps is likely bad.

Unplug the fuel line and fill a glass and see how much I get in 30 seconds?
