Porsche Locking Wheel Bolts

Recommended Posts

Hi - The locking wheel bolt 'key' on my 99 996 has been split by a previous owner -(went to use it for the first time yesterday  - it unlocked the bolt but I put a normal bolt back because it looks like it may snap at any time) .

Does it state anywhere in the service books or codes anywhere which key number it is (appreciate they may have been changed) or should you get any documentation to say which 'set' you have ?

The only reason I'm asking vs buysing a new set, is there are various 'keys' available on ebay but they are only 'numbered' so I have no idea which one to get ... :(

Many Thanks,

Richard.

Some dealers write the bolt key number in your maintenance manual when the car is delivered. I have seen others write in on the options tag under the front hood. Don't worry if it is not there - all dealers have a kit (for service work) that has all the keys in it. So, worst case you take it to the dealer and they try keys until they find the right one - then you buy it.

Thanks Loren - I'll look under the hood tonight as it's not in the service books - failing that I'll take it to the dealer as suggested. Tks again ... :)
