eBay problem with wing! need advise..

Recommended Posts

hey!

i won this eBay auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...TRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

thinking it was the Misha GT2 wing, however, i contacted the seller and it apparently is not. i've been watching this auction for a while now, the part has been relisted 3 times and when he finally made it a no reserve auction, i bid on it.

i won the auction and here is my problem, i was away and the freaking guy added this to the descrption:

*Original OEM C4S Decklid core exchange IS REQUIRED complete with deflector, $700 extra if you do not wish to exchange*

In the previous auction, he did not say that and he even told me that the auction includes both new decklid and blade.

and he wants $1200 to paint it. (since the starting price for the last auction was $1000, i thought it was additional 200 to paint it and i thought it was optional)

any advise? he tells me I have to get it painted by him and the $1200 is non negotiable.

should i get it? any advise would be great! thanks!

See if you can win an auction for walking boots and apply them to this auction! I'd leave negative feedback for all the funny business first, because he will probably leave negative feedback for you.

Since that wing is not a Misha, expect quality issues. Not all fiberglass is created equal, and the weirdness of this auction you can bet his is low quality. You will most likely get stress cracks and fiberglass fibers showing through the gel coat over time.

If you do a search on this jack*** you will find out what a scammer he is. He has a few different eBay names and has done exaclty what he is doing to you to many guys and has created alot of heartache. His paintwork is 2nd rate and looks like it was spraypainted in the garage. His shipping charge will be WAY overpriced as will his painting charge. You need to run VERY far from this and be glad you did.

Byt he way, there are many threads over on Rennlist and 6Speed abouit this guy and wake of terror he has left. His original screen name is something like Deedoonewhila (spelling?) and a few variations of Ruf_Gt2, etc.

Nothing good will come form this so continue at your own risk. But would hate to see you go forward with him and then get burned. Just look at what he did to his description AFTER you bid and then all the "extras" he offered you.

In this case, "you get what you pay for" and then have to pay more to get what you paid for in the first place. This can not have a happy ending. Too many red flags have popped up and that should have been your first clue to run.

One more thing......don't you think it is odd that there were so many bids by somebody with a rating of 0. Sounds like somebody was bidding them selves (him) in very small increments to do 2 things:

1) create the appearance of demand (21 bids but only you and 1 other member)

2) to be willing to take the hit on the listing fee by bidding with his own fake id to try add get to what you would have paid rather than the lowest amount.

**look at the bidding, the 18 or so bids by him were all very small increments and many times over. NOBODY bids like that. Also, his last bid after you raised your he bid one last time to get another $25 out of you right before the auction ended. Trust me, if he was willing to pay $525 to begin with he would have never bid in the pattern that was shown.

Caveat Emptor.

I would contact ebay based on Dell's remarks also they should investigate this funny business, being an EBAY seller myself these demands he is making are simply unreasonable. That can be really frustrating.

eBay is notorious for doing NOTHING. We basically have to police ourselves and hope others (like here) can look out for us. The most they will do is allow you to give him a negative feedback and guess what, he will do the same to you! Yeah, that's fair. He has several tricks like making his feedback private (which eBay will let you do) so nobody can see all the negatives, he will bounce from id to id since he has a few. There was a HUGE backlash against this guy and he went away for a couple months but now he is back in business and people don't know any better.

Just saw that as well. Sad thing is that somebody that doesn't troll these boards will have no idea who he is and get caught up in the "it's a great deal" hype only to find out the crap he sells and then regret making the purchase. Sad.

There was talk of having somebody pay him a "visit" since most of us know most of the info he uses (phone #'s, address, names, etc.) but then that would be setting us up for some possible outcomes that maybe we wished post hoc that we didn't.

There is a sucker born every minute and if someobdy doesn't do the proper research to protect themselves them sometimes you just gotta let them get burned.......but we will do everything we can to protect those that hang out on these boards!

Here is one of his other screen names. Try and checking out his feedback on this one. You can't b/c he made it private. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brand-New-P...sspagenameZWDVW

He sells the nickel and dime stuff that you can't help but say something nice on the ruf_gt2 name, but the big ticket items were sold under the other name (check that one out). By the way, the reason he had so many positives was that the majority of his sales (I checked them under his feedback before he went private) were $1 cell phone names plates. Kinda hard to screw that up. Not to mention it looked a bit fishy when you looked it over since alot of the same people had bought multiple items with little feedback scores. Looked a bit like feedback inflation.

Trust me, this screen name will eventually turn out like the other ones. Besides, wouldn't you leave positive feedback on an item that cost less painted than it actually does as a plain plastic part from the dealer if you had to go pick one up?

Theoretically, it would be nice to see him scammed like he tries to scam others. Not sure who or how you can do that legally though. Of course, there is always the question of the income scammer is deriving and whether he's paying his taxes ..... :jump:
