  2. Emm...I'll try find resources online about checking voltage to the connector. See what I come up with. The angle changes when watching cam angle when I accelerate w my Durametric but I was never able to activate my solenoids with my durametric. This was discussed on an earlier thread. Thanks V

  4. Currently have an opportunity to pick up a Techart Magnum, 2007, 140k km. Trying to see if anyone has any experience with them and if it’s worth picking up. The only other I can find for sale is a 2010, in Sweden.
  5. Only valid resources would be the diagnostics listed on a PIWIS system as none of this information was ever in print. Using the list I provided, you should be able to assume some basics like wiring continuity, wiring shorts to ground, voltage readings, does the cam angle change when activated via Durametric or PIWIS, etc. You need to remember that even the OBD II diagnostics manuals for the earlier cars only provided a sense of direction, not a set of directions. You need to get out your digital multimeter and start poking around............
  6. Ugh...where do I start. Can you point to any sources.
  7. Probable Causes: Control Line Circuit Open Control Line Short Circuit to B+ Control Line Short Circuit to Ground Fuse Faulty Solenoid Hydraulic Valve Faulty Voltage Supply Circuit Open Diagnostics time..............
  8. Yes...typo..so that would mean a wiring issue? So what is the course of action.
  9. I believe you are actually referring to a P0010, which is typically the code for an "open circuit" on that bank 1 sensor.
  10. Here’s my rennslist post Coolant leak, seems like above AOS - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums RENNLIST.COM 996 Forum - Coolant leak, seems like above AOS -... At the end of the season last year I noticed some coolant in the back of the engine on the drivers side. I was hoping it was the coolant tank leaking and overflowing out but I just replaced it with a new one. It seems to be leaking above the AOS after I cleaned it up. Anyone have any experience as to where’s this is coming from?
  11. Hi All,08 Boxster.Getting a P00010 CEL code. Camshaft Sensor bank1. Is replacing the sensor usually the solution? If I clear it, it comes back in a hundred or so miles. Car runs fine but I do think it lacks a bit pick up. I'll check the wires and connector. Is there a way to test the sensor to see if its bad.. Is it possible it's the variocam solenoid? Thanks V
  12. It does have the vent, I just forgot to attach it before I took the first picture.

  14. Thank you so much ☺️
  15. I’ve been super lucky to be offered a chance to work with someone very experienced and associated with one of the premier M96 gurus to assemble the rotating assembly. So I can come in from the wilderness!
  16. Does the battery have a vent port and did you connect the vent tube?
  17. I did not - thank you. I will have to take it to an AC tech for this...
  18. The correct hole is already in the battery tray, but it doesn't have any threads. No problem, an M8 Rivnut to the rescue! Then the larger battery drops right in, bolts right up. I got an AGM Everstart from Walmart, and it was made in Das Vaterland!
  19. On my 955 2004 cayenne turbo, I was going to replace the intake manifold bolts but I cannot figure out how they come out. I loosened the rubber seal but the casing around the bolt will not allow it to slide out. Are they permanent sealed in or does the intake have to be separated to get it out.
  20. Before you recharged the system, did you fully evacuate it to remove any moisture? If you didn't, you need to recover the current gas charge, evacuate it, and then recharge it along with any required PAG oil.
  21. Greetings The AC on my 986 Boxster (2000 S) has been out of action for many months due to a leak in the low pressure line, which I have now fixed. However, since refilling with refrigerant gas, the air from the AC is still warm. I can also now hear a hiss which is audible from the drivers seat through the vents, but is most prominent from the area circled in red (picture below). Is this the expansion valve? Sorry for my ignorance on this! I know the compressor is working because the low side pressure drops when I turn the AC on (snowflake button). The low pressure side pipe (blue in pic) is cold and the high pressure (green?) is hot. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

  25. There are very few rebuild shops for the M96/97 engines, even fewer good ones, due to the lack of credible published internal specs and the incredible number of specialized tooling required and a total lack of oversized bearings for cut cranks. Normally, when the internal and external journal and shell bore diameters are good, the only way that the crank locks up upon assembly is either the crank or the carrier do not align true (one of the other is bent).
  26. Thanks, it doesn’t make sense. I may end up there. Rapidly realizing there’s a reason no one rebuilds these at every shop!
  27. Something does not make sense here; if the difference between the crank journals micrometer readings and the bearing "cage" internal diameters with the shells installed and torqued to spec is 0.002, there is no way the crank should lock up unless the crank carrier is warped by the new bolts or one of more bearing shells are installed incorrectly. If it does need to be line honed, you should try LN Engineering in Momence, Illinois; they are one of the leading machine shops for these engines.
  28. In process of rebuilding a 3.2. All new mains, polished journals. Clearance is about .002 I’ve gone to ARP bolts for the bearing cage. The directions say line honing may be indicated. When torquing, all is well, going in three steps. But at the specified torque, 50 ft-lbs, the crank will not rotate. It’s fine at the second step, 33ft-lbs. And of course, I’m in the Porsche wilderness where the local machinist who decked the cases and heads has no fixture to hone the cage. Ideas?
