  1. Hi All, Does anyone have the original alignment/factory specs for the 2014 981 boxster w/18" wheels? I'm going for any alignment as my new car tracks a little to the left and just wondering the proper specs... The wheel actually seems to track all over the place but straight..constant inputs required... I just hope its an alignment issue and not the electric steering..as I never had that before.. Thanks
  2. I recently did a suspension overhaul when I replaced my inner CV joints out of necessity. Problem I am having is they cannot align it properly. Because of the lowered suspension and change in geometry the rear toe in is more than it should be. I have ordered a pair of rear control arms from TRS to allow for adjusting toe, hopefully. So now I am looking to replace the Meghan racing tie rods with something that will allow for greater adjustment for proper alignment of the front end. Does anyone have an experience/insight into this type of setup for the street? Can anyone recommend outer tie rods? Will stock factory ones work? List of what was replaced: All wheel bearings with *** units repacked with Hi Temp synthetic grease All 4 struts/shocks with Bilstein B8's along with upper bearings/caps, bump stops, dust boots All 4 springs with H&R 29779 Lowering springs (Blue) All 4 lower coffin bars/ball joints with Meyle units 2 rear track arms with units from Vertex auto. 2 rear control arm/ball joint Meyle units. 2 front track arms not sure if Meyle or vertex auto. 2 Inner tie rods 2 outer tie rods with Meghan racing units, adjustable blue color 4 Drop links with Tarrett adjustable units Eibach 26mm front swaybar along with bushings factory 19.6 rear swaybar along with bushings
  3. Hi all, I am curious about the estimated cost of a 4 wheel alignment on my 2003 cab. Any info would be appreciated. Also, is this something that can be done by most tire dealers, or only by P car garages?
  4. Hi All, I'm new to the forum here. I have a 1998 Boxster which had been lovely to me until recently when I began experiencing issues with the top. Same story, different time... one of the cables broke, didn't realize it, something got bent. Don't know what. So.. I've disconnected the front arms from the convertible top, and also taken the push rods off of the clamshell so that I can operate it manually. Even with the clamshell operating manually, the clamshell sits ~1-2" too high on the right hand side, and must be forced down! Please don't say the transmissions are not in sync, as this is without even hooking up the transmissions! I have already replaced the guide arms on both sides as well as the clamshell slides. Is it really possible that the clamshell itself bent? I have already tried loosening all of the bolts that hold the clamshell to the guidearms, and even with shifting that the situation does not improve. The eccentrics on the sliding rails only slightly help it. Can anyone please help? The vehicle has been down for two months as I try and get to the bottom of this.
  5. Hi All, The factory alignment on my new 2014 boxster was pulling slightly to the left. Now after an alignment (I found out they used a older John Bean machine, instead of their new Hunter as it was tied up with another client :( ) it seems to pull to the right a bit or a slight bias to the right... Can anyone read over the spec attached and tell me what they think... any idea why it would have a slight bias to the right... whenever I take my hands off the wheel that where is goes ever so slightly. Would the Hunter machine made a difference? I sound like a complete idiot when I tell the dealership this stuff, because the first time when I got the car, the sales rep said it tracks straight.. but I insisted it had a slight left bias... now after a 4 wheel alignment, the service tech says its within spec and goes straight and I feel it goes to the right... Mind you the reflectors on the alignment machine seem hokey, every time he tried to tie up the toe, camber, the numbers would move, seems like its not a good setup...the tech told me you can't change the caster...yet somehow on the printout the caster changes from the original to the final? but I don't know should I ask then to check it again on the Hunter? see attached and comment please!
  6. I'm getting ready to put my engine back in after rebuilding it and I was wondering if I am going to need to have a rear wheel alignment done afterward. You have to take off so many brackets, braces, and supports that I'm feel like the whole procedure would throw the alignment out of whack. My problem is that my nearest Porsche shop is 50 miles away and I wouldn't want to have to drive it there with the alignment out badly. Any thoughts or advice?? Tom
  7. I'm replacing both plastic headlight brackets (the whole thing) on a 1999 911 Carrera, due to broken brackets where the electrical socket sits. These are the plastic mounts where the headlights slide into. I'm just trying to figure out if there's some trick to getting these things lined up right. The three (3) knurled nuts, washers, star bolts just kind of wiggle around in the slots in the metal fender part. I keep loosing up, re-adjusting, and tightening them down but haven't got the headlights to line up with the fender opening quite right. Figured I'd ask before I did too much hair pulling. There's got to be an easier method. Thanks
