2001 911 Carrera: hood latch has started popping open whenever the door is unlocked (key or fob) and while driving (randomly). I've read the helpful threads on the website and understand it might be a latch adjustment, or perhaps just a good cleaning under the switch. The problem for me is that I'm on a trip and won't be home with access to my garage and tools until I drive a few hundred highway miles. I'd like to disable the latch for the drive home, but in looking at my fuse map, I can't tell which fuse to pull or whether pulling it will disable something critical to the drive. Any thoughts? Hello, I need help/direction with fixing my new car. As the title said, it was a salvage car with flood damage so i replace the fuse box first 99761034100 i put a picture below. The one i purchased came from another car and still had the cables attached so the pairing of my old bad one to the new one was like 95% easy matching. After the process of cutting,splicing and reattaching mostly everything worked! However, the autolocks and alarm is not working. Not sure what to do! Also, a few of the cables that came as part of the new fuse box, i was not able to connect! Not sure if that is right. So the question is how can i find out which cable(s) needed to be connected such that the auto lock, alarm, seats work? I found online a few diagrams but they do not point out which fuses or cables control those pieces. Thanks a million in advance, i heard great things about this group!

I'm down to deciding if it makes sense to take out all the typical road rash chips on the front bumper cover and up the front hood on my 996 MY00 coupe RWD, 6 MT Blk / Blk. Previous owner had been diligent with touch up blobs, but it obviously would be esthetically better to have the front clip redone with the exact water base L741 paint. Rest of the car is perfect. Black is easier to match than light colored cars, so I'm tempted. OPINIONS PLEASE : The car is original paint. Since values of our 996 ain't going up again for sometime, does a " re- spray " hurt potential future sale: Thanks all.

Yesterday my 2002 boxster would not open the bonnet via the remote or open button. I managed to locate the manual bonnet release and open the bonnet that way. The bonnet release solenoid is working when the button in the car or on the key is pressed but it seems very weak in its activation and therefore is not managing to open the bonnet. I have checked the supply and it receives a healthy 12.5 volts for a split second when the button is pressed and the solenoid and latch system seem very free to move. Has anyone had this problem before? Is the solenoid broken and need replacing or is there an intermittent electrical fault? Thanks Steven -
Hi Does anyone have recent experience of replacing the convertible top on a 996 in UK? I have found several companies advertising on the web but would like to hear from happy / unhappy customers before parting with cash. From other posts I understand this is not DIY'able? I live in Ireland but options over here are severely limited. Thanks Andy -
Hi all Year 2000 996 Carrera 4 cabriolet The remote locking is working really well since I did the mod on the antena. However the remote operation of the hood mostly does nothing and when it does start to open or close it only moves for a second or 2. Then I have to get into the car, ignition on and use the dash switch which always works OK. Is the reciever for the remote hood operation the same as for the locking? If so where else should I look for the fault? Thanks for your help. Andy
