Parking lights won't turn off if turn indicators are on when switc

All,

Not sure if this is a problem with my car or just a strange 997 quirk, but if I turn off my car and I have the turn indicator on, the side which had the indicator active will keep the parking lights on after I shutdown the car and won't turn off until I restart the car and turn off the indicator. I have only had my car for 6 months and haven't noticed this previously so I think it may be a problem with my specific car.

My 996TT didn't do this. Any ideas? Car going in for a final warranty check on Tuesday before going out of warranty so will definitely ask the dealer but wanted to check on here first if it is something to be worried about.

Thanks

Sounds like an obvious electrical glitch, either in the light switch (common) or the turn signal stalk system (less common).  As the car is under warranty, I would definitely direct the service advisor to look into the problem as it is not going to get better on its own.

OK thanks guys. I posted a similar note on rennlist and the replies was this is a feature for European Porsches (I'm in Australia but we get the UK variety here) when parking on a small street and the car is close to the traffic having one side of the parking lights on provides a warning to other drivers. Would have never have thought of that.

That function is built into the light switch, not the indicator stalk.

This is correct and 100% normal. And this is what it sounds like your car is doing, other than the, "and won't turn off until I restart the car and turn off the indicator", part. You should be able to turn off this feature by turning off your indicator without having to restart the car.
