Transmission Fluid Check?

Recommended Posts

How do you check the transmission fluid level on an Tiptronic? Where do you fill it up at?

Yesterday as I was driving to merge on the e-way. As the car was about to upshift to 5th at the same time I floored the gas pedal and seemed to be a harsh downshift. Is that normal? Computer response?

Thanks for all the help guys? I love the car!!!!!

I watched it being done on a Boxster at a tech session. It is not a DIYer. You need a lif, PST2, and a pressure gun that injects the fluid into a hole in the bottom of the transmission. Nothing like I have seen before. When he removed the bottom plug I expected fluid to pour out. It is the fill plug. They stick a tube up the hole into the transmission and inject the fluid. Then you check the level with another plug.

The PST2 is used to measure the fluid temperature. The correct temp to check the ATF is 30 to 40 degrees C. A correct level is a slight amount of fluid escaping from plug B when removed - engine idling, car in "P", A/C off, and car on level ground.

To add more fluid you have to remove the cap off the charging valve A and connect a filling tube to pump ATF in.
