The 4 pin connector Pete talks about is for the cell phone.

This picture is a 2003 and you can see Porsche now put a piece of tape on the connector so it will not short out.

If the car now works you might want to use a piece of tape.

You know when I put in the music keg, I removed the wires that were hooked up to that harness.. There was a existing cell phone in the car when we bought it.. So will see if it pops again.. I will tape it up to be sure..

Is there any trick to pulling off the cover to the right hand side of the center console? I'd like to check to see if the connector is taped up on my 2001.

The dealer said to just push my finger into the fuel line several times until I hear it click, then I shouldn't have any problems filling all the way up. It would be nice to make sure nothing is shorting out

Does it just pull off, do I pry it off, or what? I tried pulling, but it seems pretty well connected, and I don't want to break anything! How hard do I pull, where do I pull, and how is it attached?

"Rear of the cover" as in rear when facing forward or toward the rear of the car?

Is this worth the effort just to stick a piece of tape on the connector for a 2001?

Thanks

You can pull on only one end of the carpeted trim panel...

Now I'm confused. I thought it was the vinyl side panel on the right side where the A/C controls, CD storage or trays go (underneath the dash). Any diagram available of just what I pull off to get to the wire?

Eureka!! After looking more closely, I saw the carpet is multiple pieces. Grabbing the upper right piece just closer to me than the footwell vent and pulling it came right off. Definitely helps when I pull the correct part - no wonder I had such a hard time trying to pull off the side of the center console! Once off, it looks just like your picture

Thanks again for all your valuable info
