  1. That is not the muffler part number that is the part number for the support (hanger). The correct muffler part numbers are: 996 111 984 03 Left main muffler with flap and hose 996 111 985 03 Right main muffler with flap and hose When installed, the sports exhaust system can only be distinguished by the Porsche trademark (see image below) the designation on the side of the mufflers.
  2. I am asking for the Pcode because there is not a Pcode that says "the problem is the MAF". For every Pcode there is a troubleshooting tree of potential causes of what triggered the code. Without the code everyone is shooting in the dark...
  3. Might I ask how you know it is the MAF? Do you have the ODBII Pcode(s)? It would also help to know what MY. Thanks
  4. 1) Do you have any leaks? Is the the coolant level below the mark? If so, you need to find the leak first. 2) Call a dealer and ask them to check your VIN and see if the tank was replaced. 3) The engine compartment purge fan rarely comes on. Mine has only come on twice -- and I live in 90 plus degree California! Here are the conditions the fan comes on at. 4) There is one TSB where some of the fans were wired wrong (reversed) but this was only on aerokit cars (sorry, can't remember if your car has an aerokit). But this was just a few cars and again the dealers were supposed to correct this. 5) Changing the tank just takes some time as you will need to remove a few other items (air pump, hoses, etc). You will need more Porsche coolant and bleeding the system is as simple as opening the bleed valve and then refilling when cool.
  5. I think Jeff (Tool Pants) has the part numbers for the connectors but.... most of these connectors are standard size "Radio Shack" parts. I would also use the same gauge wire (as what is on the current switch) from the fuse panel to the dash and make sure your splices are good.
  6. IMHO... Other than potential cracking (and the repair) problems these are great wheels. Just be ready to replace one a year or so.
  7. No, I don't have any specific alignment specs yet. But, the shocks and springs are changed for MY04 (from pre-MY03 RoW GT3's). Nothing else in the geometry seems to have changed (according to the parts list -- which I do have). Here is the spec for the earlier cars (realize this would be RoW height):
  8. First have a look at this in the Tech Tips section... Flashing Coolant Light -- What it means. From TSB 8/99 1940 Coolant Expansion Tank dated 10-22-99 There have been at least 3 tank designs. The latest one is 996 106 147 56. BTW... leaking caps (and hoses) have also been a problem. Just an FYI... The MY01 and newer cars got yet a different (larger) tank and there have been 3 of them also.
  9. The service manual actually says 6-9 ft/lbs. Most folks don't have the smaller torque wrench you need for this -- just don't use the 30" one you have for wheels! Like Karl said most folks just tighten it back to where it was. That is certainly what I do.
  10. I've heard this before about the MY03 VarioCam Plus programming. I've heard two stories -- one that this can be somewhat improved with a software upgrade (though I have not seen a TSB on it) and two that this is the way it is. Perhaps some MY03 owners can respond...
  11. Condensation from the AC. At least you know your drain tube is clear
  12. Ask your dealer to perform the fix "Complaint 7 -- Rattling noises at the seat belt height adjuster in the area of the B-pillar" in TSB 2/00 70.. Noises In The Trim Panel Area dated 6-30-00.
  13. Here is my 2 cents worth... Sorry, I can not give you the prices because I don't have them. Here is what I can tell you -- * Through MY01 there are 2 MAF sensors -- one for non e-gas cars (MY99 C2's) and one for all cars with e-gas (which includes MY99 C4's). MY02 cars all have e-gas so there is only one (yet different) MAF for them. * If you only have a P1130 code without the P1128 code then that signifies your problem is on one bank of the engine. Here is what my Pcode list says: P1130 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 2 (Cylinders 4 - 6) - Rich Threshold. Fuel / air mixture is so lean that sensing has reached it's rich thershold. Probable causes are listed as: Intake air system leaking; Fuel pressure too low; Volume of supply fuel pump too low; Fuel injectors fouled. I think I would start looking for any loose or worn vacuum hoses around the intake area. Consider changing the fuel filter. See if you can borrow an MAF from someone to rule it in or out. Finally, I had the dealer replace my MAF under warranty -- twice -- before they realized that the connector on the DME (behind the rear seats) had come loose. So, the MAF's were likely okay. You never know, it could be something easy and even dealers sometimes jump on the MAF too soon. Changing the MAF is pretty simple. There are two special screws that hold it in place. I'll check the tool tomorrow and add to this post. Update: August 25th -- it is a Security Torx with Center Pin -- as David said, basically a Torx with a hole for the pin in the center. p.s I merged your two posts as they were pretty much the same.
  14. That should be it Scott. The opening is still small and I use a clear plastic tube on the end of a syringe.
  15. Sounds like the threaded setscrew adjustment (near locknut) is too tight. Back off on that about 1/2 turn and re-tighten the locknut. You can try it before you reassemble everything. The spring should cause the shifter to self-return.
  16. Good idea Berny.... I will have to put my daughter to work on that. BTW-- she did the logo.
  17. Hmmm... could be... the spoiler supplementary TSB says:
  18. Yes, I see that bulletin listed on AllData but I don't see it in the Porsche data bank. According to NHTSA there are no recalls for 2002 TT. So the AllData info maybe for other model years? To be sure you may want to check with your dealer. They should be able to check with PCNA's computer database to see if your car's VIN is on any REcall or TSB list.
  19. 955 631 033 00 Left Clear Side Marker 955 631 034 00 Right Clear Side Marker
  20. Don, I tend to work on one side or one end of the car at a time. I have four jack stands but I think it is safer to keep two wheels on the ground when working in my home garage. I can only think of a couple times when I used all four jack stands. When I did I usually raised the rear first. With that said I know some folks like Orient Express that do a lot of (under car) detail and use four stands all the time.
  21. The part number for the MY99-01 C2 was replaced by the MY02 version. That is, if you order the old part number they are supposed to give you the new one. The newer (MY02-) version is part number: 996 559 237 09 70C. The 70 C indicated rally-black which was used on all C2's -- C4's got a Silver logo (996 559 237 07 4PU) which some folks think looks better on dark colored cars. The location on the rear deck lid also changed. Let me know if you need exact dimensions.
