  1. Scouser - I do hope this is public or you have permission to re-distribute this?
  2. The bulb is only held in by the metal clip on each end. This is a very common type of bulb and clip. Just carefully bend the clip back a little to release the bulb. New one goes in the same way.
  3. From the Technik book... "Tuning flap The resonance intake system is a two-stage version through the switchable tuning flap between the intake distributors inside the perpendicular resonance pipe. This switchable, two-stage resonance intake system can be used to adjust the air oscillations in the intake system to the respective engine speeds to ensure high torques even at low rpms, an even torque curve and high maximum output. This is achieved by having the tuning flap closed at full throttle between 2,600 rpm and 5,100 rpm, but open at lower and higher speeds."
  4. Try 4962 or 4960
  5. P0660 Electric tuning flap Possible fault causes - Short circuit to B+/ground or open circuit in the control line - Open circuit of power supply to tuning flap solenoid valve - Tuning flap solenoid valve faulty - DME control module faulty
  6. You will need to clean the cosmoline off to read the serial number.
  7. Measure the current at the battery - 40- 60 ma is pretty normal.
  8. The cap should end in part number -01 or 02. Caps with part number -00 are known to leak. Caps are under $15.
  9. 2 - 2.5 liters is quite a bit more than normal consumption IMHO.
  10. Please do a search here as alternate power has been discussed many times. Most folks use the phone prep cable behind the front center console it has both switched and unswitched power and ground.
  11. Try 0799
  12. 996.522.421.00.01C Stop -- US MSRP $3.79 each
  13. Then your recourse will depend on the laws where you are.
  14. I heard of more broken pulleys than broken belts...
  15. Sorry, but in most cases that means your sychros are worn and you likely need a rebuild or exchange transmission.
  16. No that consumption is not normal. You either have an external leak or an internal leak. Check the obvious first - look for leaks under the car, check the tank cap and coolant tank itself (for cracks). 996TT is also know to blow a hose off - but if that happened you would have lost most all of your coolant.
  17. That makes two of us then - I agree the 997 cats have the sensor in the middle. Will it work? Who knows - the DME in the 997 is different and may have a program for that cat.
  18. For MY08 987 the -60 filter is what the parts list calls out.
  19. I don't remember seeing one like that on a 3.6 liter (but I am old and my memory is not as good as it used to be). Perhaps a 3.6 liter owner could look at theirs and confirm one way or the other.
  20. 996.522.321.01.01C Left actuating lever -- US MSRP $1.16 996.522.322.01.01C Right actuating lever -- US MSRP $1.16
  21. You do not say if you are in the US or not? If you are... http://www.usdoj.gov/civil/ocl/monograph/odom.htm
  22. Try 0763 or 0761
  23. According to the Major Maintenance Checklist (in our Contributing Members Download area). Additional maintenance for drive belt - Check drive belt at 40,000 miles (60,000 km) or every 4 years - Check drive belt at 100,000 miles (150,000 km) or every 10 years - Check drive belt at 160,000 miles (240,000 km) or every 16 years The procedure is the same as the one in the 996 DIY section.
