  1. I'm running the same size on the rear of my '02 S without issue. My car has H&R sport springs which lowered it almost 1.5". My wheels have an offset of 47mm. Please note, however, I run 2.5 degrees of negative camber in the rear which pushes the tops of the wheels inward. If you lower your car, the suspension adjustability is limited, so you will result in more negative camber than you already have.
  2. Help, I've fallen and I can't find my radio code!!!!
  3. Loren, I think you are a real gentleman to answer all these lost radio code questions. I've never seen so many lost codes in my life...doesn't anyone keep factory documentation in their owner's manual wallet?
  4. The B&M installation instructions are excellent. I followed them when I installed my short shifter (excellent, BTW). I know tugging at some of those panels can be a bit leery, but it does work quite well.
  5. Thanks for the info...I couldn't help, but always take notice and read others posts, as you learn from them. I'm hoping I have many miles of driving pleasure before I need to face these type of issues. My '02 S just broke 13k miles a couple weeks ago.
  6. The speakers simply replace the two small storage boxes in the compartment, so use those as your template. The face of the speaker enclosure is the same as the box opening.
  7. I have Kuhmo Ecsta MXs on my '02 Boxster S. Great dry weather grip, though they are not for wet. My car is not a daily driver though.
  8. I have the Oettle muffler on my '02 S and love it. It is very discrete, but has a nice deep tone and opens up as you get on the throttle. No drone or resonance due to the fact that it is a factory muffler, only modified.
  9. You can pick up a "Mity-Vac" hand pump for very little investment. This tool allows either a vacuum or push pump mechanism, depending upon where you connect the hoses. Very simple to use, I've filled transmissions with it, as well as bled brakes.
  10. I have H&R sport springs on my '02 S...I run 2.5* negative camber in the rear, as well; fronts are about 1.25* negative. It's a bit aggressive for the street, but the tires will turn to hockey pucks before I wear them out. The negative camber looks good to me as I'm used to running alot of negative camber on my 911s.
  11. Hi gristy, As for sound, the german modified was the sound I was looking for out of my S. The stock exhaust was just too quiet and some of the aftermarket just didn't do it for me. I had a Fabspeed (Dansk) on order for two months and finally gave up. In a way, I'm glad because that muffler probably would have been a little too quiet. The modified gives a nice deep burble at idle, more exhaust sound on acceleration and a bit of rasp on full throttle. There is no resonating at certain rpms, unlike aftermarket and is closely modeled after Porsche's own sport exhaust (but with permanent bypass pipes). I bought mine already modified ,but if you search the archives, others (LuisR) made their own mod. As far as the lip spoiler, you can purchase these off eBay pre-painted for $199...very easy to install and completely reversible. One of these days I'll post a sound clip.
  12. This has nothing to do with the exhaust discussion...how do you like your modified retractable spoiler? I've debated in my head whether or not I should change for the "pass-through" look instead of the "block" look. Do you feel that the spoiler looks too small without the solid bracket? Has there been any change in the feel of the car at high speed? Thanks for any input. Not to highjack gristy's thread, but I personally like the new spoiler. I feel it gives the car an updated look (read Cayman) and is admired by fellow P-car owners, as well. Very simple to swap back and forth, if needed. As I don't track this car (my 911 serves that duty), I cannot comment on high speed stability, as I only drive highway speeds with absolutely no ill effect. "Does the spoiler look too small?" Not at all; in fact it emphasizes the fact there is a spoiler, as opposed to the lip of the standard spoiler.
  13. Try Vinylex made by Lexol...works wonders for me. It also provides UV protection.
  14. I have this modified factory muffler on my '02 S...very simple to do and the sound is excellent. Low rumble/burble at idle, rips pretty good under hard acceleration. I also have the EVO Hi Flow intake which provides an incredible induction sound...no CEL with either of these mods.
  15. You can purchase aftermarket Cat bypass pipes from sources like Fabspeed (which I'm still looking at). My understanding from reading prior posts is that disconnecting the secondary Cats will not impact the CEL or peformance, but will increase sound. You'll also loose some weight in the process.
  16. I used to have a "Stebro" exhaust on my Karman Ghia back in high school (my first rear engine car). Sounded cool and was cheap; but that was 33 years ago. Can't comment on the new ones, but read the threads about other mods to the factory mufflers. For very liitle you can add bypass pipes and get the sound you've always wanted.
  17. They look very nice...I like the deep offset on the rears. You didn't mention what size the wheels are? I have 18 x 8 & 10s on my '02 S. The rear is a 47 et with minor rubbing initially on the parking brake cable (which had to be tied back to the trailing arm).
  18. Thanks for the link to the terrific write up...couldn't be any clearer than that. My '02 S has only 12k miles on it, but could probably use a good cleaning. I've had no operating temp issues as the car runs around 180*-185* consistantly. The under nose scrapes bother me more than anything, though they can't even be seen unless on a lift (but I know they're there).
  19. I assume there's a link you followed to undergo this project. I've had the rear bumper cover off; very simple. You mentioned rivets? I'll need to do some searching to find how to accomplish this. I'd like to do some cleaning, as well as a little paint repair (underneath) where the prior owner scaped a curb or such.
  20. Thanks.... Looks good. Off-topic Q, but since you have an '02, what color are the plastic grill inserts on the front of your Boxter? The '01s are silver, and I think they'd look a whole lot better in flat/satin black. Bob Mine are also a shade of silver, which is a nice contrast since my car is black. I also painted the side inner vents arctic silver to match.
  21. Quite easy to remove, as Tool Pants stated. Removal was one of the first "mods" I made to my '02 S. In fact, I placed the plastic rivets back in the holes for a very clean look (if you happen to be looking under the dash).
  22. Looks like seal grey on silver? Doesn't look bad at all from the picture; a little contract can be pleasing. Sorry I can't help on the part, but I'm sure the experts will.
  23. You didn't happen to oil the intake, did you? I understand they now come pre-oiled (since I purchased mine) and over oiling can cause lots of problems. If not, did you check to be sure everything was seated tightly? Did you loosen the intake to install? If so, there may be leaks somewhere. I installed my EVO Hi Flow well over a year ago and have had no issues whatsoever; only the pleasure of hearing my intake everytime I jump on it.
  24. I guess I should have thought of that. Wonder if they carry stainless tubing?
  25. Does anyone know of a source for the secondary bypass pipes other than Fabspeed? I don't wish to be cheap, but at $480 for the pair, it seems a bit steep. After all, they are only a couple of tubes bent in a certain manner. I already have a bypass muffler system, but feel the cat bypass would further enhance the music. I also replaced the stock airbox with an EVO High Flo for induction.
