  1. US cars parts as control boxes, door locks, remote controls, etc which are directly connected to radio frequencies (Hz) are different than ROW cars, i don't know for sure if it will work, but you can try.
  2. 1) Quick speaker check = ignition on - lights on - ignition off - the speaker should work now. 2) Quick park assist check = ignition on - gearbox in reverse - does the reversing lights work ? - if not, check fuses/reversing light switch - if yes, use a PIWIS tester.
  3. The rubber shrinks over time, the best is to replace. Just push in with the help of a small amount of silicone spray.
  4. I forgot to mention the pliable part of the oil filling pipe, there are cracks after repeated use and over time.
  5. The codes means engine run too lean on both cylinder banks ( DME on rich threshold), most common problems when working on the filter and intake, are air leaks between MAF and intake manifold and defective MAF.
  6. The engine did not reach range2, 91 times at 3140h, but 91 ignitions, which is a very short duration, i would not worry about it.
  7. The AC display unit is the only control box (computer), the sensor on top of the dash is a solar (sun) sensor. You really need a PIWIS tester to read the codes and values of each part in the system. A program error in the AC or other CAN-BUS related control boxes and devices (PCM, etc.), can cause similar problems as described.
  8. There is a special menu build in the PIWIS tester, to read fault codes in case of loss ignition power, an OPC should handle it. (examples for cars with: key problems, steering column problems, ignition switch problems, etc.) hope it helps.
  9. Looks like one of the timing chain tensioners, hopefully everything is remained in place.
  10. Both codes refer to cyl. #3 issue, i would check that out first. Misfire detection covers more than some bad plugs/coils/wiring's, do a compression and/or cylinder leak test, an exhaust gas test (HC/CO/CO²/O²) is also very useful.
  11. The DFI V8 Cayenne's re-use indeed plastic coolant pipes, with a different design cause the DFI configuration, but in plastic as before. Most of the water leaks on DFI V8 engines are located in the water pump/thermostat housing area rather than the pipes, they will probably follow later on.
  12. The leaks looks not that bad, i would clean the engine thoroughly in first place, and than take a look after a couple of days.
  13. The used 4 mass electrodes plugs act different than the classic 1 mass electrode plug, the spark slides from the central electrode, over the insulator, to the nearest mass electrode, which create that way, a much longer in distance spark, which is able to ignite a leaner fuel/air mix. On classic 1 or 2 mass electrode plugs, the spark jumps from the central to the nearest mass electrode, where the spark length is noticeable smaller.
  14. Perhaps it has something to do with the US environment law, the system fuel tank/canister/valves, are different than ROW cars, so i cant say for sure but it could be possible that there is something wrong with the gasoline vapour retraction system.
  15. If the problem started after the AOS replacement, recheck the proper fitment and the condition of the bellows between AOS and engine, the O-rings on the tubes, inclusive those on the AOS which go in to the engine bloc, the O-ring behind the throttle body, the seal between the idle valve and throttle body, the O-ring in the oil filler cap and the intake tube between air filter and throttle body, to be short, everything you have removed and replaced.

Spin-on oil filters use also paper filter inserts which will disintegrate occasionally, the small holes in to the light alloy oil pipes, on top of the camshaft housings on 911 air coolers were susceptible to that issue, especially when no premium brand spin-on filters were used. You do not know how many 911 engines suffers, after a few years, with partial or complete clogged oil nozzles by that.
  18. The thing is, alternators with a free wheel pulley use plastic rollers and are mounted on cars with a manual gearbox. Alternators with a fixed pulley use metal rollers and are mounted on cars with a Tiptronic gearbox. Over the years, have been done by mods and repairs/replacements, create a mix of different rollers and pulleys. The only thing what you should never do is an alternator with fixed pulley mount together with plastic rollers, a free wheel pulley with metal rollers can not hurt at all. Caution: the recommended replacement period for a free wheel pulley is 90.000 Km (info from pulley manufacturer)
  19. Cut-Out Protection Pcm Temperature read this, perhaps it helps.
  20. 987 front control box is the provider of the headlights, this means that the control box has a fuse, and not longer each headlight as before.
  21. 987 MY 06) Disconnect the shift cable on the Tiptronic, if it goes smoothly, check Tiptronic (rare). If there is still much resistance, disconnect the cable from the shift mechanism (stick) and move the stick forwards and backwards, if it goes smoothly now,suspect the cable, if there is still much resistance, the mechanism is the culprit. Finally move the cable forwards and backwards to accomplish the test. Replace or repair what's needed.
  22. I would replace the complete clutch, pressure plate, release bearing and friction plate. Check also the flywheel for damage and burn marks, the clutch will probably have slipped heavily.
  23. This is done with an adhesive paste (looks like front window adhesive) between the cross beam and the roof plate, accessible after removing the roof liner at the rear window.
