  1. NEVER disconnect the GROUND or POWER cables with the engine RUNNING. Some day it will cost you a lot, keep this in mind for the rest of you (car) days. :drive:
  2. The pressure relief valve issue was 987 MY05/06 related, with engine cooling water temp. between 70C° and 80C° and approx. 2.000 RPM. I have never seen a 986 with the same issue, but it's not impossible.

Try this for ROW (Euro): Ignition ON Disconnect GROUND cable from battery Disconnect POWER cable from battery Connect both LOOSE cables with GROUND (car body) for 10 minutes Connect POWER cable on the battery Connect GROUND cable on the battery Ignition OFF Ignition ON START engine The warning lights should be out Note the radio code before you disconnect the battery Use the window learning procedure
  4. I would suspect the push rod connection on the pedal and/or the clutch mechanism in first place, clutch cylinders usually do not pop or snap when they fail, starts rather slowly leaking without warning.
  5. @ Porker, the engine actual values are deleted every time you clear the fault codes or disconnect the battery.
  6. Use a jack which is adapted to the specific Cayenne height, so you can use them on the 996 as well, vice versa is not always possible.
  7. Unfortunately, this feature can not be disabled. This was a choice they have to make, a Boxster does the other.
  8. Is the car already tested on a shock absorber (suspension) test machine? Excessive play on suspension and steering components ? Rims and tyres, condition, dimensions and brand is also a point to look at. Must be something.
  9. C2 and C4 are two different cars in drive ability (handling) maintenance and price, a test drive should give convince. I would go for a MY 06 or younger, if i was you, and walk (run) away from a MY 05. Just my opinion.
  10. 997 series 1 with M97 engine use approx. the same oil pump and pressure as the latest 996, the 997 series 2 with MA101/102 DFI engine use a "demand-controlled oil pump" depending on the input for engine speed, load, engine oil temp. etc. the oil pressure control valve possition is defined using a map in the DME. The phenomenon you describes is possible if the car is a series 2.
  11. A new window regulator should help you out, instructions are on the board, please use the search function.
  12. It is possible that during the first year or two, the filter element is sold on exclusivity by Porsche, then the filter will be sold by the manufacturer as well, which is not uncommon on Europe.
  13. The oil filter and housing have different dimensions on DFI engines (MY08), the earlier tool is no longer useful. A universal rubber strap or open key can help you out.
  14. Most of the window related rattles, in the conditions as you describes, be caused by worn out window mechanism parts (cables).
  15. The glove box issue was a warranty item approx. two years ago.
  16. Before you remove the bumper take a look behind the right headlight (remove the headlight), in some cases the filler neck is not proper fit in to the water tank, at the same time you can check the right headlight washer for leaks through the open room between the light carrier and the bumper.
  17. Weird, the fiber optic (MOST) recognise (or not) the complete PCM unit and not a part of it.
  18. All wheel sensors including MY 04 are inductive (classic), from MY 05 Porsche use a different system on the sport cars (the same system as Cayenne)
  19. Replacement of the electric part (ignition switch) can solve your problem in most cases. The switch is located on the rear of the steering lock.
  20. Looks not original, Porsche use in principle, always full plastic tubes. Looks like someone messed up and broke the original tube, take a look if you can find some scrap just behind the intake manifold.
  21. Perhaps a not according to the specifications implemented alignment ? I would recheck a 4 wheel alignment, with FULL fuel tank, in a real good shop.
  22. ROW (Europe) use only one bank for diagnostics at those years. You did a good read.
  23. No, the tube is definitely not the cause, mostly the tank is the culprit, sometimes the cap. If you install a new tank, renew the blue cap with the latest part # to be up dated.
  24. The DME is on his rich threshold for both banks, which means engine runs too lean, an air leak belongs to the possibility's. A good diagnostic tool should give more in formations.
  25. It is the overflow tube, the tube go's straight downwards and is connected on the rear engine crosses, if the attach is no longer present (90 % is missing) use a tire wrap or something similar.
