  1. I honestly cant remember if it was there before or not, but when listening to the left side of the car when idle you can very slightly but clearly hear a consistant ticking noise, its better heard when your listening near the air intake. If best described it sounds like a metal tapping together, cam tapping a valve sort of sound Its not affecting performance and you cant hear it under acceleration It's an 01' S, 29,500km I have only picked up on it recently and im trying to figure out if im going crazy or if it was there before What could it be Cheers
  2. Interesting theory panameras Im guessing its got more to do with inducing understeer, tire wear wouldnt be their main concern. Porsches generally turn to this for the safety factor but honestly I find a little more oversteer to be more comfortable.
  3. I’m running the stock 17" alloys, Porsche recommend 29 psi front and 36psi rear I generally put 2-4psi more than recommended to compensate for pressure loss until the next checkup + it feels more comfortable with a firmer ride.
  4. Im not Porsche bias but I wouldnt trade a boxster in for a 350z If you have the standard 2.5 or 2.7, upgrade to a 2000 - 2004 boxster s, then upgrade your headers and exhaust, air intake ect.. Should give you ~210kw or you could simply supercharge it ~240kw Problem with self modified porsches is they dont keep their resale, unless companies like RuF or Gemballa do the job
  5. The unit is a totally independent Alpine deck with 2x Alpine LCD's and an infrared transmitter for 2x alpine headphones mounted to the roof above the centre arm rest. Unfortunately at the time of purchase I had other issues on hand and left it to the dealer to do, I just wished I had known about renntech or other Porsche boards like it at the time. It doesnt have a direct aux connection to the stereo which I thought was ***** weak, the RF transmitter under the seat does a crap job at sound quality and the cost, well... arm + leg + first born. Is there an AUX connection at the back of the cayennes sound deck? It has this ever so useless AV button, is there some way to make use of it or activate its function? Cheers
  6. Ive heard of that being done, would be interested in seeing how people mount the bracket within the arm wrest ill look into this :)
  7. Its a great daily driver and a pleasure to drive, the biggest thing you'll have to worry about is where to park it. Unfortunately it attracts a lot of attention and jealous bastards can do anything. I parked my cayenne in a fully open area and some lil ***** came and kicked my quarter panel :censored: The 01' S useto be the daily driver and its always a pleasure hitting 4000 rpm :) Porsches, can live with em, cant park them :)
  8. Hi all I have a 04' Cayenne S which i had the dealer install and setup a dvd player system in the rear headrests prior to pickup Unfortunately they installed the dvd unit in the storage draw under the drivers seat (smart thinking <_< ) Its an absolute pain in the *** to live with, especially if you have kids in the back saying, pull over we want to change movie I was thinking of re-wiring it to the middle console where the cup holders and cigarette lighter in the rear are Has anyone done this or got pics of a successful dvd player setup in the back of a cayenne? Attached are the pics of my current setup so you get the idea (Sorry about the quality) Cheers
  9. Hi Daryl Good to see more melbourne ppl in here :) Congrats on the car, as Loren mentioned its quite possibly the ignition draining it, but i know how you feel with the flat battery issue, I managed to get 6 years out of my stock battery, i was quite amazed considering I dont drive the car as much as i useto. I remembered that once I got it started, I couldnt turn it off for fear of it not starting again (which it wouldn't) I eventually called marshalls around and they replaced it for $199, doesnt really have any branding on the battery but its got much higher ratings than the stock porsche battery. General rule of thumb, 4 complete discharges and your batterys as good as dead
  10. Theoretically the entire front half of the 986 is a 996 :)
  11. I noticed mine was running around ~95 degrees c so a few hrs ago I got this crazy idea to clean out the radiators in my 2001 S Farout what a pain in the *** job that is lol, its 4am now and I just finished :) But honestly the amount of **** that came out was staggering, they were quite clogged up, I even found shedded snake skin :S http://www.realtime.net/~rentner/Porsche/R...r/Radiator.html That guide is quite helpfull, but honestly id be quite happy to never have to do that again lol Good luck
  12. does removing the foam allow more particles to the filter and dirty it quicker? Always wondered about this
  13. I'd love to get my hands on some raggtopp but its pritty much non existant in Australia :S Anyone know a good site to order it online? Cheers
  14. BMW sells a product called "BMW Soft-Top Repellent " which "impregnates" the fabric, its excellent at repelling water and easy to apply (clean and spray on) Its fantastic, water literally jumps off the roof as if its its being repelled statically. Porsche sells a similar product but application of it is a little tricky and the results are exactly the same. Ive also heard a lot about raggtop which is suposeto be very good, check the below link, scroll to the bottom http://64.225.94.154/ShopSite/page6.html Cheers
  15. Lol isnt it already hard enough to see out of?
  16. Your local porsche dealer should sell them, I got 3 porsche caps with my car They come in quite handy :)
  17. $3 a gallon is expensive? In aus its around $1.50~ a ltr for premium on a bad day 1 gallon = aprox 3.7ltrs Were paying $5.50 a gallon over here :) Pay the extra few dollars, a new engine will cost you more :)
  18. I slide a small alan key in there to hook it, then i pull it out
  19. 3 incorrect entries = 60 min lockout leave the ignition on aux (one turn) for 60 mins and it resets, if you turn it off inbetween that period you have to start all over again
  20. You should be able to, Porsche seats are interchangable and your 2002 should have the wiring harnis for the heaters below the seat. Centre console shouldnt be a problem either.
  21. That there's the problem Had them on my 01' S, they were so noisy it was unbelieivable, I also heard a sort of howl come from them at times If the noise bothers you, replace the tires with yokahama's or a more quiet breed of tire I wouldn't put Yoko AVS on, they get even louder as they wear Was talking more along the lines of these :) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...del=ADVAN+Sport
  22. I noticed this noise with my 01' s a couple of weeks ago, It hadnt been started in a while and for the first minute or two on idle it was there Havent noticed it since luckily :)

  24. It would be cheaper to purchase an S than put a 3.2 in the boxster, you'd also need to upgrade breaks/suspension ect... Especially when it comes to resale value.
  25. The face looks similar to a Ferrari 360/430 Still love the pre 03 models, they looked so much more authentic.
