  1. My convertible top had a whining noise coming maybe from the motor today when I pulled it back up. It stopped in the middle but I was able to get it back again after a few tries. Has anybody had this problem before? Kristian
  2. I have a some kind of indicator between cylinders 4 and 5 on top of the engine. I had a rubber piece that kept it in place but now its missing and the part is hanging loose. Does anybody know what that part is? Is is maybe a knock sensor? Thanks kristian
  3. I replaced the coil packs. The car works great now, much smoother than before. i also cleaned the maf with electrical cleaner, clean the carburator and I put some techron fuel injection cleaner in the tank. Thanks again guys. Kristian
  4. Hi, This was a great DIY. I just had to add that you have to take out the pump from above. Also I got a good deal on a heavy duty pump with metal impeller for $106 on Ebay and it's been working great. Kristian
  5. I just ordered six coil packs from Sunset Imports at $42 each. It was the best deal out there. I will let you knot the outcome when I install them. Thanks Kristian
  6. Thanks Loren, I changed my spark plugs a few weeks ago, so they are good. But maybe I damaged the coils at the same time. I also changed my water pump and the reservoir the other day, so I thought maybe some coolant got into the coils since the cylinders that are missfiring are under the coolant reservoir. How do I unconnect the coils to swap them out? Kristian PS.now I have codes P0300 P0302 P0303
  7. Can anybody tell me which one is cylinder number three.. The code reads that there is a problem with that cylinder. Thanks Kristian
  8. I bought a new top with glass window from Ebay, and it was a great decision. The glass window looks better and will last much longer too. I paid $1200 for the new top and $350 for installation. Now I never have to look at the faded window again. KL
  9. Hi, I have a 1999 Carrera 4 convertible 62000. I replaced my coolant tank back in March. It looks like its leaking from the same place again. I wonder if there is any warranties on these tanks? I remember having a hard time replacing the tank, but I read about lowering the engine 3 inches. I wonder if that is going to make my job easier? Kristian Just called and found out that the tank has a one year warranty, so thats's great
  10. HI, I have a problem with my coolant tank again. I replaced it in March and it looks like it's cracked again. I have a 1999 Carrera 4 convertible and I had a hard time replacing it last time. It was a real pain... I was wondering if lowering the engine would make difference? For me it would be a great idea to get that extra space. Kristian
  11. I would definately lower the engine for the job. I did mine without doing it and it was tough. I managed to damage the fuel line while I was doing it. I also changed the fuel filter at the same time. Kristian
  12. Thanks, I just finished fixing the problem. The problem was one coil that was not on properly. I had put it on, but it had not snapped on, so it was loose. It was giving me codes for missfires on three cylinders. After I fixed it, it runs great. I definately recommend taking off the three bolts on the cat converter and pulling it about an inch outward for more room. Kristian :P
  13. Hi, Just finished changing the spark plugs. I removed the three screws on the cat to be able to move it back and have more room. My engine light is on and one of the spark plugs must be missfiring. Does anybody have the numbers for the cylinders so that I know which one it is when I get the code. Also I removed two of the connector wires, was there anything specific I had to do to snap them on. I might have not got them on correctly :( Thanks Kristian 1999 carrera 4 convertible 62000 miles
  14. I remember somebody talking about dye so you can make your seats look like new. I have a 1999 Carrera 4 with Charcoal Grey color. Is there a place I can buy the matching color. My seats are in good shape, but the color inside the wrinkles is lighter. Thanks Kristian
  15. Hi, I have a 1999 CDR 220 Type 4462 W5002603 Thanks Kristian
  16. 1. I had a rattle on my 99 convertible and it was because the middle section with cabin lights and where the middle latch attaches to was loose. After I tightened it, all the rattles stopped. KL
  17. I looked for a DIY for starter replacement but could not find it. I was also checking my car and I could not even find the starter. Can anybody tell me where it's located? Thanks Kristian
  18. I replaced mine with a glass window that was worth it, but I did some research and found places who would stitch in a plastic window too KL
  19. I got the LED 3rd brake lights on Ebay that work good. I also bought a pair of led bulbs for the tail lights, but they were not bright enough, so I never kept them on Kristian
  20. It's the horrible shrieking sound for a second or two at start-up when cold. I have to check the starter first and see if that is the problem. Thanks guys for your help Kristian
  21. I had a similar noise--turned out to be the starter going bad Thanks, that might be it. Let's see if if starts giving me any other trouble with the starter. Kristian Is there any way I can test the starter? I could not find an DIY for replacing the starter either. kristian
