  1. Similar thing hapenned to mine when I fueled a fuel tank with 95 octane gas, instead of the spec'd 98 octane. It would stall when warm starting, despite it being a Tiptronic. Also some RPM fluctuation was noticeable, as you describe. After a proper 98 gas refuel, all went away. Good luck, Luís
  2. Hi all, I'm going to remove my PCM1 and install a Pioneer AVIC F900BT, due to be shipped 18/06. I have the 99/00 Service Manual, which, on Group 9, Sheets 14 and 14A have what I need, but not exactly, since it still has an amplifier with DSP. Mine is a 09/2001 TT with the Bose. Question: can anybody get me the corresponding page for my car? Cheers, Luis
  3. Hi, today I got back to the decoding of my option codes. Two questions: my car has the Bose logo on the speaker grills and the big speaker box on the rear tray, also with Bose logo on the bass reflex ports, behind the rear seat backs. However, 680 is not in my option list, nor anything remotely close to that. Could it have been added after manufacture? Further, in the bottom of the list there's an unknown code: 09991. What's that? Cheers, Luís
  4. Beautiful job, Marc! I have just bit the bullet and preordered a AVID-F900BT and ordered an Alpine PXE-H650 sound processor. The processor will go to the trunk, in place of the CD-changer. I have also bought the trillionaire kit off ebay just now and ordered the CD box and corresponding trim from Porsche. When I'm finished, I'll have a CD changer, PCM1, phone module and phone headset to go to ebay and recoup some of the cost. Will post photos of the install in my 996TT, but it'll be more than a month from now, I think, since the Pio is still not available for delivery, a couple more weeks or so. Cheers, Luís
  5. Hi all, I have a 996TT 09/2001 with PCM1 16bit, phone, CD changer, etc. Want to remove all that and install a Pioneer AVIC-F900 and an Alpine PXE-H650. Questions: 1 - Is the Porsche GPS aerial plug compatible with the Pioneer unit? 2 - Is the factory telephone microphone plug compatible with the Pioneer unit? I know that the socket in the Pio is the typical mini DIN. Cheers, Luís
  6. Thanks Marc, that's exactly what I wanted to hear! I'm quite tempted for the newest AVIC-F900BT over the AVIC-HD3II. With SD cards with 16Gb being available for the F900BT, I think the 30Gb hard drive of the HD3 looses appeal. The F900BT is also noticeably cheaper and already comes with Bluetooth. LCD real estate is smaller in the F900, though. Luis
  7. Hi trillionaire, Thanks for the reply, but you didn't reply to the question of the BOSE - AVIC interface. I want to continue using the BOSE amp, with the AVIC as the preamp only. Does your kit's harness support this? Regards, Luís
  8. Hi, I have a 996TT 09/2001 (non-MOST, of course) with PCM1 and BOSE system and would like to install an AVIC HD3-II, which I think it's the equivalent to the US AVIC-Z3 model. Can you provide a kit customized to this configuration, i.e., with the proper harness? Further, can you also provide a matt black finish to the trim fascia? Do you know if I can connect the existing PCM1 GPS antenna to the AVIC? This would simplify enormously the install. Luís
  9. May I suggest that, unless it ramps up or other problems start to show up, you simply drive unworried? Just keep monitoring for worsening conditions and check ATF level. That's what I would do.... Luís
  10. Ah! Thanks! I'm toying with the idea of installing a stealth radar detector (they're not allowed here) and use one of them to install a power on/off switch for it and the other blank to install the corresponding detector display LED. Can anyone suggest a P/N for a suitable switch? Luís
  11. Hi all, For which option were the two button blanks located just behind the ashtray in 996TT MY2002 meant for? Luis
  12. Hi all, I have just ordered the M509 parts to install a fire extinguisher in my 996 Turbo with standard power seats. My question is to anybody who has this factory mod installed: what are the maximum dimensions (length and cylinder diameter) of the extinguisher that fit in the fire extinguisher holder? Thanks already, Luis Alves
  13. Hi, I have a few option codes that don't show up in the list in the forum. It's MY02. - C00; - XER; - XMZ; - XSC; - XX2. Any idea what these are? Luis
  14. Hi Loren, What about M9670-642 A9650- 00 (MY02)? Luis
  15. Yes, that too. It's 1m, give or take, I've checked that already. Comparing with my Audi A4 Avant S-Line, the relevant measurements are: - Wheel hub vertical datum line to front bumper: A4: 96cm, 996TT: 100cm - Clearance, front bumper: A4: 20cm, 996TT: 16cm -Wheelbase: 996 is 30cm shorter than A4. The A4 clears the ground by about 4-5cm, so I'm relatively confident that I won't scrape the ground. BTW, I'm Germany already. Tomorrow, 8am, I'll go check the black beauty :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D !!!
  16. Front lip to ground, which is the dimension that is of concern to me.
  17. Thanks! Interestingly, I've received mixed information: a local Porsche Zentrum said: "fully loaded: 101mm". Myself, I measured 160mm on a parked 996TT, just yesterday. Those 160mm, plus a little modification I did on the rain gutter of the ramp (using it to smooth the transition) makes me confident that I will be able to make it without scraping (too much at least :D ) Anyway, if I do buy the one I'm flying tomorrow to see, I'll find out on Wednesday or Thursday, when I'm back home :D :D :D :D :D Regards, Luis
  18. Well, nobody seems to be able to get me those drawings... Anyway, Sunday is off to Germany to see and testdrive a black TT 09/2001 at a Porsche Zentrum. I'm not sure if I'll be able to sleep until then... Regarding the clearance issue, I think I'll be able to modify the ramp to the garage so that I'll have no problems. Fingers crossed...
  19. Not an option either.... Just got in! What about those drawings? Anyone?
  20. Unfortunately, not an option. The garage entry door allows for straight in entrance only, it's not wide enough to do that. That's why I need accurate measurements to do a little geometry study...
  21. OK, the time to buy my Porsche is getting closer and I will be ready in a month's time to go shopping, cash in hand. However, I need to know if it can get in into my garage, which is in the basement of my apartment building. The access ramp is very inclined and has a sudden transition into the interior pavement. I'm afraid I will severely scrape the front lip and maybe even the lower part of the bumper. To properly study this, I need a lateral scale drawing of a stock suspension Turbo 996 and NA 996 (can anyone get me one, please?). I don't know anybody with either car that I could borrow and test, and there are no 996 TT for rent available, although vanilla 996s are. This is quite frustrating, since I can afford a 996 TT (2000 to 2002) but may have to opt for a NA due to garage configuration.... I will not leave a car like that parked on the street. Luís
