  1. Nice write up, only time I was out to go to wawa on 232 for essential coffee, was sweet with the P Ice and Snows
  2. That job is an easy DIY parts $42 I have those parts as well and can take pics of them if someone needs an ID. The shop replaced the vent/breather pipe as well as the plastic water pipes. Tim
  3. the spare was an option, most 03/04 did not have them hi can you tell if your subwoofer was downsized (manufactured after 06/03) ? thanks.
  4. 102K miles from new with no spare (standard) in the pothole state to boot dont worry
  5. the Fiat 600 abarth may be your next car I think And they just failed two times within 30 miles on a 2010 Transsyberia with 12,000 miles. Looks like they still don't have it right.
  6. 04's had mal-adjusted locks. it needs to be adjusted, the dealers have the procedure
  7. PSM off is all you need to move thru snow/sand. High revs Low to climb over the snow bank at the end of the drive after the plow goes thru I would respectfully disagree with you as I was just trying to get through moguls on parking lot in St Moritz. the only way to move was to put in low and lock Really doesn't make sense...but whatever. In fact, I believe the traction control becomes disabled when the system is locked (it's been a while so not 100% sure)...Which only further confuses me as to why this would be a good idea. I tried this a couple years ago on roads covered with a foot and a half of snow and trust me, doesn't help. Perhaps in your situation it worked b/c the traction control was sensing no traction and left you dead; thus by engaging the system it turned the trac off and allowed the wheels to spin making you feel like it worked. Again, if you think about snow driving, it doesn't make sense that you'd want to be in an even lower (i.e. reduced) gear. Now...if you were going to climb up a solid snow mountain (i.e. snowbank packed tightly)...
  8. 1 - sounds like you have a problem other than your battery 2 - how old is yr car ? 3 - autozone sell batteries that meet the requirement for about 130us 4 - its a diy job quote name='ian1975' date='Jan 15, 2010 - 03:32 PM' post='165404'] Hi! My Porsche Cayenne battery died twice, each time I have to recharge it and everything is ok but how do you know that it's time to change the battery? My local Porsche dealer in Montreal charge 470$ (part and labor + taxes) for changing the battery but is it not under the Porsche warranty? is there any better alternative like another battery similar or better than the OEM? Thanks Ian
  9. If it were a V8 I would say its the tank vent valve in the engine compartment breaking down, I had to replace mine recently for similar symtoms, not sure about the V6 tho
  10. Does anyone know what adhesive to use to fix a replacement gasket on the headlight ?
  11. This has been done by Kurt at Carnewal in Belgium but he will not give a parts list. There is some fabrication also required since the new parts will not mount by themselves on an 04 frame. try his website it used to show the conversion
  12. by the way there is no 2007 Cayenne, you must be 06
  13. You should not need to set any of the diffs under normal snow and ice conditions. Raise the suspension up if its real deep and turn OFF PSM when you want some fun or if you get stuck, the system will stop you dead if all wheels lose traction with the system on. The beast weighs a lot, the laws of physics do not get supsended just because your gonads feel big driving it. Remember the mantra "dont brake, dont brake , dont brake, always repeat it 3 times. Please be carefull, us old timers have seen these threads before, the next ones will be blaming the car for not stopping or for hitting the tree that was not there a minute ago Find a parking lot in the snow and have at it to get the feel, try it with and without PSM, feel the difference, the **** thing thinks so much so its not as much fun as you think it will be. PSM = Please Save Me
  14. autozone carry them [ quote name=flyingpenguin' date='Dec 20, 2009 - 03:04 PM' post='163288] I looked under the driver seat today as my battery is on its way out (after 5 years I am OK with that). Part# on the battery in there is 3D0915105G. A quick google resulted in this VARTA bulletin http://www.partnernet.varta-automotive.com...che_Cayenne.pdf with these exact dimensions (LxWxH: 353x175x190). Rayovac makes a battery, the SLI93T8, with these dimensions (LxWxH): 354x175x175, so a little lower. Capacity and CCA (cold cranking amps) are similar, so looking at pricing around $129, this looks like a better deal than an original Porsche battery. Any thoughts? JP
  15. remove right (headlight, you can see if the filling spout has become detached
  16. I was told that 05's were a vendor change only (i.e. cheaper)
  17. ditto Tough call but I would try the installer first. I mean you paid them to install it, so they should fix it. If they did bend a fiber optic, it may require dealer diagnosis. Having just installed the itronics a couple weeks ago, it is kind of hard to pass the fiber wires to the head unit but a careful installer shouldn't of had to much of a problem. Let them check all the connections and fuses first.
  18. Loren, RFM, I have not heard this variant before on a Cayenne, any ideas ?
  19. does sound a bit like fiber mine is installed in the front ok they may have bent the fiber
  20. there is a diy on rennlist, at the top of the Cayenne page, a porsche tech took lots of photos, you might want to take a look. it cost me 850 to get it done at the dealer but mine is quite cheap by all accounts. My platinum warranty did not cover it as its classed as hoses
  21. I agree its most likely a control unit that has gone bad or a battery on low volts The power from the battery goes thru the computer if the computer senses low battery capacity is shuts down non essential services and goes into "get to a dealer" mode. Before wasting to much time I would replace the battery, on an 04 it must be close to end of life so will not be wasted and it will be a whole lot cheaper than a replacement module. What services are off ?
  22. 04 with 40K has a lot of life left in it, i am at 99k from new and its reliable. Battery will need replacing if its original. Check the birthdate, after April 03 is better, the rest you know about
