  1. I also have a 1999 Cab and I am just like you guys -- I have spent more time and money on the top than any other part of my car. I am about ready to just put the hard top on and say #### it. Chuck
  2. I am installing the o2 sims this week end. Will advise if they work. Thanks for all the help. Chuck
  3. Has anyone used any of the o2 sensor simulators --- post cat to eliminate CEL? I removed my cats and want to install the angled o2 simulators so I will not get a CEL. Thanks, Chuck
  4. My car sat for about two months and battery went dead. Charged my battery -- put up my cab top - now the top latches and unlatches and back windows will not go up. Front windows work fine. Do I need to have my top recalibrated? Appreciate any help. Chuck
  5. I have hacked mufflers and I went a step further --- removed my cats. I live in a state with no inspections. Great sound -- when you jump on it - other wise - just a little over stock. Chuck
  6. Should not be a problem -- just let the oil drain for a long time. Also remove the filter and let it drain a long time. I let mine drain for a couple of hours. Even after a hour you still get oil. Lots of crooks and crannies in the 996 engine. Good luck. Chuck
  7. The part number is ----996-731-903-01-01c -- Description -- Vanity Mirror. List ---$78.90 ---- Net ---$66.69. This is the part you are looking for --- I ordered two and replaced both. Worked perfect. Comes in one color - black. Chuck -- Myrtle Beach
  8. You can buy -- just the flap cover from Sunset --- about $60.00 each. Buy 2 and replace both. I took my car to a Dealer -- Baker Porsche - Charleston, SC for a freebie check up -- got it back with a broken flap on visor. They tried to glue back together -- did not work. They just said they break all the time and I could order the whole assembly in the Parts Dept. Last time I set foot in that Dealer. Easy replacement --- Good Luck. Chuck
  9. The piece flips over the latch. This is the same piece Ken Baker Originals in Myrtle Beach removed from my car when doing a minor top adjudtment and tore a hole in my top. They claimed the innocent one and told me F--- You. I am taling them to Small Claims court. The part just snaps in place and held by a small spring. Chuck
  10. I could not find the plastic pieces that go over the roll bars --- they break very easy. I broke mine working on the top -- just put my hand on it and broke into numerous pieces. I took my Cab. to a top shop and had the entire piece covered in black material. Cost $58.36. Looks great and matches the side flaps. Chuck
  11. Loren --- the car is a 1999 Cab. the part is 10" x 3" that snaps into hole where rollbar pops up. They are designed to break when rollbars pop up. The piece is black and my cloth is black. Thanks, Chuck
  12. Does anyone have the part number for the thin plastic covers that are over the roll bars that pop up???? Thanks, Chuck
  13. Alot of cab owners face this same situation. Do you or anyone else know what the oval cap -- over the pop up roll bar part number is???? A shop worked on mine and broke the piece and just put in back with out securing the tabs. It blew off on way home. Never go to Ken Baker Originals -- BMW - Porsche independent shop in Myrtle Beach. Good luck and let us know what you do.
  14. I have a spare set of working 996 Cats. Can I take out either the front ceramic section or rear and increase sound to a more agressive level? When you look in the O2 hole you can see the front section and the rear section. Both are the honey comb ceramic type. The cats are off a 3.4 - 996. I am looking for a more agressive sound but not real loud -- I have the muffler hack. We do not have smog testing in my state. In order to not get a CEL I could install the 90 degree O2 sensor mods. Thanks for any help. Chuck
  15. I would like to buy two used 996 cat sections for a test product. If this new system works -- I will offer to Renn Tech group at cost. Thanks, Chuck -- cao@sccoast.net
  16. Yes --- very costly experience. Get the parts from Suncoast in Oregon --- You can buy new almost as cheap as used. My top transmission locked up and burnt out the motor. Chuck
  17. Need to replace one of my Hydro cylinders again in my 1999 Cab. Any advice as to where I can get a rebuilt cylinder. I used a local rebuilder and is leaking again. Thanks for the help. Chuck
  18. Thanks for the help..... Merry Christmas to all my fellow RennTech fans.
  19. Exhaust question - I have a 99 Cab - C2. In my quest for better sound and possibly a few extra HP. I upgraded to the hacked mufflers --- not what I expected. I live in a state that does not have emissions checks. I am thinking the next step is to take out the cats weld in a bypass pipe with the o2 bungs and use the o2 adaptors with my original sensors. My question is -- 1. Will I get a CEL? 2. Will I get a deeper Porsche sound? 3. Do I need to have my computer changed to Euro. settings? Thanks
  20. I changed trans fluid to Royal Purple ---- it is made for the Getrag and it works. I also installed the Trans fix from gbox. Trans works great. Solved my problem....
  21. I built my own out of wood several years ago - in fact I am on my second set. The spec's are in the DIY section. Mine are two pieces and about six feet long. See DIY. They have saved me big bucks. Chuck Ottwell Myrtle Beach
  22. Eggs can really eat paint. The voice of experience. Wash off as soon as possible.
  23. After you get the screen out ---- just use a Turkey Baster to remove excess fluid. Hope this works. Chuck
