  1. My engine hatch release is very tempremental. I have to pull the lever then pull on the engine hatch lid. Get it in the right position and it will open. --- I know it needs to be adjusted - but which way? If I adjust the wrong way how do I open the lid? Also I have two cables going to my release mechanism -- one is a shielded release cable - the other is a nonshieled cable. I pulled the nonshieled cable out a way and don't know what it does -- anyone know. Thanks, Chuck --- Myrtle Beach, SC
  2. Quick question --- can I use 265-40-18's on my 1999 - 996 C2 -- instead of 265-35-18's????? Thanks, Chuck
  3. Good Morning Need front brake pads -- who has best pads for --- low dust and stopping ability. Don't track the car only around town -- occasional trip to the mountains -- Tail of the Dragon etc. Also who has the best price --- they are all over the place. Also anyone have a good set of used 265-35-18 rear tires? Thanks and keep up the good site. Chuck in Myrtle Beach, SC
  4. Don't go Leatherique ----- I got screwed. All Renn Techers be warned.
  5. Izzy I have owned a few --- the current 951 is a 90,000 mile 1987 with very nice upgrades. Will out run my 996. Thanks, Chuck996
  6. I have a 1999 cab == 3.4 engine. Can I remove my cats and run my car without any problems ? I have a 951 that I removed the cat --- run a test pipe. Will it affect my computer - ie. the O2 sensors. Thanks, Chuck996
  7. [ :renntech: Mine is tight on top and also relaxed on the sides. Everyone I have seen is the same. Needs space to close. Chuck996
  8. Be careful in ordering from Pelican Parts ---- they sent the correct sensors - but wrong front brakes. Chuck996
  9. If you need to replace your hydraulic cylinders ---- have them rebuilt --ie seals replaced. About 1/4 the cost. Chuck996
  10. Read that file --- will answer your questions. I had to refill my hydraulic resevor and then eventually replaced one of my hyraulic cylinders -- or had it rebuilt. Spent a long time working on it trying to figure out. If you were closer I would be glad to help --- but you are on the other coast. Chuck996
  11. First of all I appreciate all the help I have received from this site. I have a 99' Cab - 6 speed. My cruise symbol comes on but does not engage. I replaced my brake switch -- same thing. Now do I replace the clutch switch ???????? I need to fix as I am driving to the Charlotte Porsche Parade ---- Hope to see some people from Renn Tech. Thanks, Chuck Ottwell
  12. On my 1999 cab ---68000 miles -- when my car was cold sometimes it would pop out of 2nd if going slow. Sounded like a bad syncro in 2nd gear. I changed my trans fluid --- put in Royal Purple ( good reports on the net from race guys.) My old fluid looked fine The new Royal Purple fluid fixed my problem. I would try that first. Chuck 996 ----- Myrtle Beach, SC
  13. Steve, If you have a glass replacement for the 1999 Cabs ---- I would be interested. My top is fine --but the back window is bad. Thanks, Chuck Ottwell
  14. Thanks -- RFM. Has anyone done this on this list. I read somewhere that a used pump - hoses etc was purchased and installed as Porsche does not have a reseal kit or hoses. The question is how do I get to that area? Not much room. Thanks, Chuck996
  15. My 99 Cab top was getting slow to put up or down --- so I used this list to put in more fluid. Worked great for a short period of time. I have filled the reservoir twice but it is leaking on the passenger side -- just in front of the rear wheel. How do I get to the lines and/or pump? I presume I will have to remove the rear wheel and inner rear fender panel. Thanks for a great forum. Chuck996
  16. I think the only difference is in the regulator motor. Chuck996
  17. I am repalcing my window regulater in my 1999 - 996 Cab. Per one of your write ups I should not connect the battery to put the window jaws up to the top as the Air Bag warning light will come on when I connect everything back up again. The question is how do I get the jaws to the top of the rails with out hooking up the battery. I have the Air Bag unhooked and sitting on a shelf. Thanks for any help. Chuck996
  18. Good morning -- I changed my oil in my 1999 996 yesterday. Per your DIY instructions --- they were great. I noticed some Permatex or liqiud gasket sealer particles stuck in the oil filter. The prior owner had the lower cyl heads resealed and it appears the liqiud sealer is from the inside of the case. Did this harm the bearings or internals in any way????? Also I drained my oil the prescribed 20 minutes --but was still getting a little out so put a smaller oil catch pan under the car and left over nite. I got about another cup or more oil when I checked the next morning. That engine holds a lot of oil and it is best to drain overnite if possible. I also noticed that I do not have the heat shields over the plugs or coil packs --- do I need these ?????? In my opinion Porsche always over engineers its cars some holders etc are really not needed is this the case with the heat shields ????? Thanks, Chuck996
  19. Kim, Ready to drive to Hot Lanta ---- will even bring some tools to remove hoist. Chuck
  20. My cruise does not work --- light come on etc --- but won't engage. Have read it could be my brake switch and yes I checked the other fuses. Where is the brake switch ????? I have looked above brake area at the relays --- but marked brake. I need help. Also do I need to add any antifreeze coolent or test for winter? Do I need to drain and refill. Where do you drain????? Thanks, Chuck
  21. I need one ---- I am in Myrtle Beach, SC and can drive to Atlanta in about 5 hours --- my phone number is (843) 651-8030. If you still have. Thanks, Chuck Ottwell
