  1. I have a kind of rattle or whistle when I'm driving on highway and hard to find where it come from at 60-70 mph. It's seem like under the dash or around the driver door. P dealer installed new rubber plug in the door and nothing have changed. I turned off the ventilation fan and I still hear the strange noise. Any one had the same problem in the past ? Thanks,
  2. It's really easy to remove the bumper about 10-15 mins and then 4 bolts for the cross over, all plugs are pre-wired to the towing control unit. To cut the valance I used aluminium scisor and if you look on the back side there is a line on the valence, follow the line and cut like a piece of paper. You just need to buy a part from porsche, the 7 pin receptacle to put on the circle with four small screw. Again this adaptor is prewired to the one running inside the factory hitch. May be at max 1.5 hour to do everything. And if I change for another cayenne, I will redo again in one hour sharp. Keep your crossmember just in case. I have a 04 cayenne V6 see larger picture with our trailer, 11,000 pounds for both vehicule at the scale. If you need any supprt or document, let me know. GUY
  3. Hello Brent, The control unit is a small plastic box and if I remember there is 2 or 3 plugs to attach on the module. If you look on the trunk on the passenger side in the compartment over the wheel you will find all the connectors pre-wired. All of them are wrapped with grey foam. At first view the curt kit may look to cost you less, but if you buy all parts piece by piece, it's cheaper to buy the original kit. I installed by myself in about an hour max and I'm not a top mechanical. You need only to remove the crossmember put the hitch and foampart and clip all the plugs. All of them have different size and shape and it's impossible to make a mistake. The only bad thing is the new cayenne model come with smaller size bolt to hold the hitch. I needed to buy specific bolt to hold it, this is steel structure bolt category. The price to buy 8 bolt at porsche dealer was the cost to buy a full box of 48 at a specialized bolt store. So if you need some I'll give you 8 at no charge, you just pay the shipping cost. (I have 40 left if this can help you) M14 100mm I had ordered a curt kit and resell it on ebay.... When you will see the difference side by side it's like day and night. I strongly suggest to buy the P4 brake controller, it's like having nothing in tow and dont need any adjustement. I'm pulling a 5,000 lbs trailer regulary with my v6 and the cayenne is a very good towing vehicule. The TSB is attached, if you have any question, dont hesitate to ask, Thanks, GUY Hitch_1D6.pdf
  4. When the engine is warm, it running like a new one. If I start the car and leave immediatley in less than 30 secs (what I'm actually doing) there is no misfire or any knock when I drive, even with engine cold, and sometime in montreal it's very cold... This happen only on slow idle for about 3-4 mins max depending on ousite temp. If I press the gas pedal to increase RPM to 1500 like the fast idle does, it's much better. When the car is hot and I stop then engine for a quick stop of 5 mins, if I restart the engine and put to drive in less than 10 secs, there is a lag like the car is running out of fuel for 1 sec and suddenly accelerate. Same lag of 1 sec on kickdown. Thank you all of you, I'll check all your diagnostic, and leave you feedback.
  5. Hello Doctor, I need help for an engine noise problem at warmup and nobody can't find the cause. If you can watch and hear the sound of the engine at warmup, I will be more than happy. The first 30 secs at fast idle is normal, but exactly 30 secs sharp when back to normal idle, you can hear the horrible sound from V6 engine on 04 Cayenne. Every morning I think the engine will die. I sent a video like this to the Porsche's dealer and nobody can't find what causing this and they told me "everthing is normal" Please get the popcorn and watch my engine video at temperature 46 F (8 C) No code from Durametric except a lot's of misfire cyl #1 and less from 3 and 4 and others. New coils packs and plugs changed twice with OEM parts, 0w40, air filter. Few clues, we changed both cats last year completely jammed, and I was reaching about 40 mph with pedal squeezed in the carpet, without any CEL and nothing on PIWIS from the dealer... My feeling engine running too rich with black deposit on exhaust tips. I notice also a 1 sec lag on kickdown to get the full engine torque and it's not from transmission. I don't know where to starts: coolant temp sensor, timing chain guide, injector, secondary air pump, mass air flow, variable intake shifting rod (what i suspect) Please post your diagnostic and experience like this, I'm desesperec and waiting for your help. Thanks all of you.
  6. I was surprised like you at the first reading, but after reading again the TSB... Saying 308lbs without changing vehicule ground clearance and the max is 616 lbs. I use spring bar with my 23' travel trailer and the road handling is wonderfull. The tongue weight w/o spring bar are around 600 lbs. You can look at this picture and the car loose about 1" ground clearance.
  7. I had the same problem. The previous owner changed the glass during summer time and use rigid glue like "instant crazy glue" and when the temperature fall down (I live in Montreal) and I turn on the defrost I heard a "bang" and the windshield crack right over the rain sensor and the mirror fall. So I needed to change the windsheild for a new one and make sure it's a factory type with the bracket on it. The cheap glass dont have the mirror bracket. Or if your windshield is not crack, run to a car glass store and they can glue with urethane, but you need to wait 24 hours and leave the car at the shop.
  8. If you want to take your voltage on the trailer plug, hope this diagram can help you. On most trailer the black is the positive and white negative.
  9. Same problem happened to me and if you drive during nightime on a very dark road, the HID lamp may shut down for about 1 sec and resume and then you probably get a "dip beam" error message. I ordered 2 HID on ebay 6000k and now everything back to normal. Recently I changed a signal bulb and belive or not both real dip beam were burned and I never got any message...
  10. To answer your question about towing, the Cayenne is a very good towing vehicule. Even the V6 give a good torque from 2,500 to 5,500 rpm and you got 90% of your torque even at 2,000. But the wind wall can decrease your mileage down to 11mpg at 65-70 mph. I'm towing a 22' trailer weight about 5,000 full loaded in long distance and sometime at high temperature / mountain :D and I never seen any increase of oil or water temperature in the dashboard. Others are welcome to share your towing experience.
  11. I want to know is a cayenne specialist can help me. I have a Cayenne V6 2004 and I won on ebay a less than 1,000 miles muffler removed from Cayenne Turbo S for about 100$ shipping included. The exhaust is like new and I want to know if it's the same part for all Cayenne or the turbo version have less restriction or designed in a different way. The other thing I want to know: If go to a muffler shop and modify the piping from the manifold to the back and install two pipe instead of only one like the V6 version... Should I expect better performance, good sound, less restriction ? Should I only install the new muffler or do the whole modification ? Thanks and don't forget to contribute.
  12. Based on my trailer experience, I use propane during traveling and it's much better than electric. Even for long ride from Montreal to Florida (25hrs driving time) On my previous car (not the cayenne) I burned two alternator in 2 years when I used electric fridge with another electric cooler in the trunk. I suggest also to check your deep cylcle battery beacause a dead one can take an extra electric load on your car. Have a nice trip to america.
  13. Thanks Loren, Very helpfull, I cleaned the MAF and the engine is now running like a new. Do you think the MAF have a life lenght ? Or need to be replaced after a couple of years ? The car just turned 60,000 miles.
  14. Since one year I can't find my problem at cold start on my 2004 V6. I changed and re-changed all coils pack and all spark plugs yesterday purchased from sunset imports to make sure it's genuine parts. Every time at cold start I noticed a lot of misfire (actual values like cyl#1 for 9 times in less than 30 seconds, and like 6, 3 or 1 for others cylinder) The sound is horrible and worst when it's humid and I recorded few code mystery code with durametric software. Like P2227, P1094, P1314, P1336, P907. I have no idea what to do. When engine is hot, the car is running like a new one, and if I stop the car for 10-15 mins and restart I need to wait 30-60 secs or the car hesitate or stall. Thanks for your help doctor.
  15. Hello, I'm proud today to be a new contributing member... I experienced hard downshifting on my 04 V6 and 3-4 times the "D" in the dash gear display became higlighted and freeze to "D" on display unit, but I can change the hand selector to manual **** or use reverse, neutral and park. When I turn off and restart the car, everything is back to normal. Please see the picture as per attached. If you have any idea, please let me know, Thanks,
  16. I had the same problem, and this will become more often. I changed the bulb and make sure all contact are tight around the bulb. Finally after a couple of weeks my headlights were blinking and during night driving one light turned off and I got the message "check dip light". 2 weeks ago I changed both HID bulb and everything is now resolved. Hope this can help you.
  17. I have exaclty the same problem.... If you find the solution, please let me know. THANKS
  18. I have the same problem and the dealer told me it's normal $%^&*. They told me a story about the secondary air pump... The noise is like a grinding and I think the engine will blow out in front of me when it cold after between 1-5 minutes on idle, but when it warm it running like a new one. I sent a video to a Porsche dealer and they told me never seen something like this but it's normal for this car... If somone in this world know the clue, please help us.
  19. Hello, I have a 2004 V6 Cayenne and the dealer changed both catalytic converter (at 40,000 miles) because they were jammed (I was reaching max 50mph with the car), 10 spark plugs in less than 10,000 miles (6 new and 4 after 10,000 miles with residue on them), 10 coils (6 new and 4 cracked or damaged). They got code for misfire and the car have a rough idle when cold and humid. When engine is hot, everything is perfect. I also noticed black residue around the exhaust tip. So based on the information below I sprayed cleaner on MAF and nothing have changed. Do you think the MAS is defect or any of you experienced something like this ??? Thank you very much for your help.
