  1. Loren, I'm doing my tequipment roll bar this week, I have a '03 C4S. PWR seats/memory/heated. Do I have to disconnect the battery, or just turn the key off when I take the seats out? Secondly, if I do disconnect the battery, do I have to go to the dealer to reset they radio, they told me my year radio doesn't really have a code? TIA Chris
  2. ****, sounds like a nightmare install. It was tough for my brother and I, but now that I know all the pitfalls, I'm going to try mine solo in a couple of days, I'll let you know.
  3. Actually the grade 8 bolts we used were slightly longer come to think of it.
  4. Suncoast and braman both have it for 1799. the word on the street is that they may go out of pruduction when all the kits are assembled and sold. Hope not. Chris
  5. I think those 'allen' bolts are actually torx head. Porsche usually uses a 20 or 30 tx back there. A allen may strip the head, esp if it's been loctited.
  6. That can't be a street car. Decals on a race car are for contingency payouts( no pay, no sticky), not sure they have that in CR, afterall it's gentleman's racing right? If that is a street car it's a riceball loser.
  7. One thing I ws wondering before I do it on mine, is it really necessary to disconnect the battery, or is simply off/key out enough?
  8. Jim, I know the classes you're refering to, my point is that there are many classes where an old cup car could be fit into, or filtered down so to speak. As opposed to buying a '05 997 cup car specifically for PCR, just my take I could be wrong, but I think those cars are being built/researched to hunt bigger game by PAG (ie, the major cup series'). This guys car is what we use to run and call sportsman class cars in the south/lower midwest, nuthin' wrong with that! Chris
  9. Anytime Doug, I'll order mine in the am then you can help me. I think the poor quality bolts are the biggest obstacle.
  10. My, my y'all are a little harsh on this guy. Looks like a descent CR car to me. BTW, there really is no such thing as a 'club race cup car' anyway. A true cup car competes in a cup series, Camel, IMSA, SCCA etc. Porsche club racing has many classes that have such abbreviations as do other looser sactioning bodies guys. He probably runs it in several events under different organizations, I did it all the time when I was racing.A highly modified CR car does not a cup car make. Listen to Jim, he knows what he's talking about. Loosen up guys it's Friday.
  11. You need the correct wiring harness, loren had a thread on it, as I did, it's a 5 min job, cost 50-100$ depending on which harness you need (w or w/o spoiler 3rd brake light). If you look up my threads around sept it should pop up.
  12. The misha GT2 style spoiler is an aftermarket street spoiler that replaces the stock retractable unit, preserving your decklid, etc. I had it on my C4S for about 8 months, ended up selling it. It is a large wing that needs a front splitter to balance it at speed as it will become quite unstable without it at the track, ask me how I know. The TT lip will correct this problem on your car. Keep in mind that it is an aftermarket copy of an oem spoiler, and a very high quality one at that. However, it has a different angle than the GT2 and sits lower, not sure how significant that is if you never track your car. In the end I got rid of it bc it seemed too big for me, felt like a GT2 poser at times, that and the aerodynamic issues at the track. The wing cost me about 2500 all in all. You can get a oem aerokit for around 4k now, that's what I will do next as I become more of a track junky, nothing like factory RD behind you at 145mph at Watkins Glen. Misha is a great guy with a great product for a street car, just be sure it's what you want. If you do a search here and on 6 speed/rennlist, you'll find some of my pics and reviews of the wing on a C4S. :drive:
  13. Porsche aerokit 4-7k Aftermarket spoilers 1-3k, try misha GT2 style, had it on mine for awhile, www.996wings.com
  14. Yes, let the dealer do it, your car is under warranty, it pays to throw them a bone now and then, esp if you ever have a claim issue or need goodwill later. Now I've worked on cars/race cars for 25 yrs and could easily do it, and do many of my mods myself, but it pays to stay in good graces with the dealers IMO. Others I'm sure will have a different take on it, to each his own.
  15. Some porsche dealers are selling the lowering kit as the x73, claiming they are one in the same at a dramatic price reduction, that's where the confusion set in. I can't believe they are one in the same, different pn's, right?
  16. Loren, do you find a different pn for the row 20mm lowering kit vs the x73 for thje C4S. Gert lists two different parts on his site, I'm trying to get the x73 not the lower version of stock, HELP, I'm so confused.
  17. I had the same idea, I got the vent out, but couldn't get the slats out without fear of breaking them, let me know if you figure it out.
  18. As Loren mentioned, the chassis needs to be stiffened at several points to accomadate a x74, not rec by porsche on a pre'02 car, that's good enough for me!
  19. The problem could be in mixing ps1's and 2's fr/r. I never mix tire brands or types. I run Pirelli's as well, switched many a rear set, zero problems with the psm.
