  1. TSB 1701...The only way is to be a contributer and look at the TSB.... It is 11 pages long....
  2. Hello, Frank! There was a discussion on Renntrack about Durametric. Take a look Durametric . The multiple functions of version 6 are starting to work... But I am exactly like you, cannot run drive links, cannot register more than 2 datas....
  3. I am in the same boat. I have learn so many things from the members of this site and the dedicate Loren about the mechanical aspect of the 996TT... I think it is important to donate to keep this site alive!.
  4. Yeah, my read is that you need the Durametric Professional Product to have a hope of V6 working...(I am rather annoyed that they claimed the 'enthusiast version' is the same as the Pro, except for the # of car limit...then changed their story after they realized V6 would not work in the enthusiast format) I'm using a motive, just was hoping to fill the whole system with the same fluid. See what durametric says, maybe pick up the pro version and lease it out to anyone that wants it! Regards Adam I didn't know that Adam but I have the professional version and many functions seems not to be working. As soon the non beta is out I will try again.... Shame on Durametric if the software is partially usable with the enthusiast version, it make no sense..... Sounds like Quicktime and Quicktime pro .....
  5. Any update on this? I am swtiching to Motul RBF600 and would rather have all new fluid (as much as possible) going forward. I do recognize that for 'run of the mill' flushes it isn't needed. Curious if it can be done on the durametric A Sorry Ard. I did not have any success with durametric and I had to bleed it using the motive bleeder solution....
  6. Good job jporter. I did the same thing (Agency power valves) but I've lower the engine to get more access. I also did a leak check and found two small leaks in this maze of sense line....
  7. Welcome Kato. It was pay back time for me since I learn so much from Renntech and also save me trips to the dealer...
  8. Lucky Steve. I would love to live close by Loren's house Keep us inform of your findings....
  9. We, sometimes, forgot to look at the obvious....Fuse B9,E9, E10...... (MY2002 +)
  10. Probably not related because both problems are well known.... Oil pressure transmitter failure has been reported on this forum and also on 6speed. The fix is the replacement of the pressure sender item # 45 on this pic. Same thing for the spoiler. Looks at several links on this page: My linkTT common problems....
  11. If you look at the top of this page , DIY menu, Glossary, you will found the definition of DME which is Digital Motor Electronics - Porsche's engine management system, the Bosch "Motronic" system, that controls both fuel injection and ignition functions. Also you cannot "destroy" an ECU only bad programming can happen.... Are you using Durametric version 6 ? Remember it is a beta and some functions are not working.....
  12. In the DIY menu you got a list of OBDII codes, DME 7.8 for the 996TT....
  13. A bad MAF can trigger the ABS/PSM warning. PSM warning.... If you got a voltmeter you can do a simple check to see if your MAF needs cleaning or replacement. Maf basic test.....
  14. I would be easy to test if you got access to Durametric. This software got a "drive link" function that aloud you to test both banks of the vario cam system. There is a total of 4 solenoid that control oil pressure to the system. Two per banks. two for the valve opening, 3mm or 11 mm. The other two are for the cam advance 0 to 40 degrees. With Durametric you can simulate a signal to one of those solenoid and if the engine suddenly hesitate after triggering the function you know the signal is functioning. There is another item you can look at is the solenoid bracket. Porsche came out with a TSB to inspect the solenoid bracket. This solenoid is located on each bank about the middle of the head and are used for valve opening. If the bracket is broken the solenoid come out of his seat and the oil pressure is not going to the system anymore.
  15. This is the worst subject to discussed about because of the complexity. A lot of people seems to have noisy engine to different level but not too many came out with a real solution. Some live with it. Some get the engine open and found worn bushings, very small wear and not too many dramatic wear. Some replace the oil with different grade etc. etc etc. If you do a good search with the words "engine noise" in all the Porsche forums you will found tons of hits and sometimes real good explanations but not too many real solutions except a "louder exhaust".....Shaft noise...., ims...., oil pump, engine noise, rod knock, noise...., idle noise, Ims..., normal noise ???, valvetrain noise, idle noise, Noise bad, IMS failure etc etc etc etc........
  16. Take a look at this work from Iceyankee-Tsi and the pictures from Loren. Very good information....Variocam
  17. Very nice color. Congratulation!
  18. You can put a smile on our face if you post some pictures
  19. I hope you know that you can test the vario cam system with durametric to see if it work properly. It is in the "drive link" menu.... If you select either banks at idle the rpm change suddenly after you select the solenoid you are testing which is a sign of a working solenoid. You got two solenoid per banks. One for the valve lift 3mmm or 11 mm and one for the cam advance.
  20. There is instruction on this site in the DIY section. You have to be a contributor to see it. It is money well spend..... 996TT oil change instruction You have to drain the oil from 4 position. The bottom of the oil tank, the engine case and the two turbos. The oil in California, I guess Mobil 0W40 is the one used by many peoples....
  21. Thanks Wross for these suggestions, I will work on these later this week. I am thinking about the "common" word that I used and I am open to any suggestions. "possible issues", "weaknesses" (ouch), "possible failures", "recorded failures".... ???? I cannot believe that I forgot the fuse for the filler. I had that problem one night and could not remember which fuse!!! thanks for heads up!

  24. I remember there is a hack for the headlights. Look at your fuse box and see if there is a jumper between the fuse A6 and A9. If there is just remove it....DRL hack and if there is not jumper and you do have the daytime running lights it is because you have the DRL relays installed. It was require when I did the importation of my TT to Canada and Porsche was asking over $400.00 to install these relays..... If you look at the relay support number one ( just over the fuse box) and found two relays in position 6 and 7 part number 996 615 111 00 you have DRL installed on your car .... Sorry just realized you have an my01 but look for those relays in any location on the support relay....
