  1. my memory is that a small hose was in the way, got a bit torn up, and had to be replaced during an alternator change out in 2008. cant remember which hose it was. you might be best off removing a few hoses, etc., instead of bustin one up as happened to me.
  2. yes, here and on 6speed. if you have a good size hex wrench its actually pretty easy. headlights only, dont mess with the foglights.
  3. turbo and C4S has vented wheel wells.... DIY would seem possible for others....
  4. there is a literal truckload of info on this forum about swithing out radios, reconfiguring control locations, etc. the search engine will be your best friend for information... good hunting.
  5. can you reset the light with a Durametric?
  6. there are lots of posts on this in this forum, use the search feature. I dont believe there is an aux-in on the cdr23.
  7. this is a really interesting exchange of information. another thread for the 996 "mysterious porsche issues" forum. great job here......
  8. call Duram, he is a real person, and order direct..... (I was personally walked through a software glitch and still remember his patience and expertise.)
  9. I agree. Try the Bridgestone 050 pole position. It's pouring rain at this moment, and I find these tires with AA traction to be great in the rain. inside wear on the rears is expected, its always been that way with p-cars. I keep the 050 on all year because my area generally has no snow conditions in winter. If it snows, rip off the wife's suv...
  10. I'd put in a another new battery when you change the alternator. I think later model alternators had the voltage regulator built in, so the entire alternator would have to be replaced.
  11. "carrera" is the classiest. If this is a real issue for you, change the emblems weekly and see if anyone else notices or comments. If not, "carrerra," imho, is the classiest. Only you can decide.
  12. check for independent dealers. Penny Wolin in Sebastobol is great to work with. There are some good cars on consignment sale, find one you really like and go for it. and remember JFK's comment..."if you have to ask..." get the best car you can for what you're willing to spend. and if in doubt, be nice to yourself and get what you really want. good hunting...
  13. could this be caused by low cranking power? how's the battery? Is there a trickle charger on the battery? good luck....
  14. how lowered is your car. didn't you have to bend in the wheel well edges in the front to be able to turn those 17's? I kept 16 on my lowered SC as I didn't want to tinker with the wheel wells.
  15. sounds as though the car was tracked, and that the engine was not allowed a sufficient warm up period first. I think the RMS issues were fairly resolved by the 2003 models. this might be one to stay away from...
  16. when you added coolant did the light go off? were any fault codes showing up on the computer? I wonder if there is some type of coolant level sensor that read the low coolant level, like sensors in windshield washer tanks? good luck...
  17. are you sure its not the pressure relief hose for the treble-turbo anti-gravity light-speed warp-drive xxx51 option? I think Burk (boochook) just put one into his car.
  18. get a new key. call Jeff Clark at Sunset Imports. Key will need to be programmed at a dealership.
  19. you might need a new head unit for the key, or possibly the key will need to be "reprogrammed" for the car, along with all other keys. for reprogramming you need to see a dealer, but for a new "head" call Jeff Clark at Sunset Imports. good luck....
  20. when this happened to me it turned out to be an alternator issue. replaced the alternator and battery and problem has not reoccured to date.....knock on wood. good luck....
  21. had this problem with my SC. easy to just replace the sender unit. not sure if a simple and quick replacement is possible with the 996, but it sounds like a bad sender unit to me.
  22. Thanks Loren, I appriciate the help. and, of course, remember your first amendment rights...
  23. hopefully this would be caused by road conditions and not an oil leak. how about under the car? anything going on under there? (that's a good drive from SLC south to St. George and beyond....pretty country.)
  24. you might actually want to give Duram, of Durametrics, a call about this question. He's always been very helpful and expectedly knowledgeable about his software.
