  1. Loren, the ‘fog’ light & the high Beam are very dim (only on LEFT side). Again the litronic low beam (LEFT) is perfect. I’ve ruled out the headlight plug as I plugged the headlight directly to the plug (removed the plug from headlight bracket) and nothing changed thanks,
  2. I have a 1999 ‘996’ and all lights are dim in LH headlight assembly except low beams. Ground by headlight appears ok. Also when using LH turn signal with high beams or fog lights on, the turn signal ceases to blink. Right side perfect always. And finally if I flash the high beams by pulling back on stalk with hazards on, the LH high beam flashes with the hazard lights. On the litronic headlight assembly, all bulbs share the same ground except low beams. Could the light switch or stalk be creating this problem on the left side only?
  3. For the life of me, I cannot tell where this shot was taken from in the engine bay. I have same problem on my 99. can you clarify where this broken tube was? thank you
  4. The majority of that black film is tire / brake dust! Deep breaths w/ the windows wide open............
  5. Absolutely right. That's not the problem. The problem is where to place the 02 sensors. (2) sensors have black connectors and the other (2) sensors have gray connectors. I need to find out which sensors go where - before the cats and after.
  6. Hello Loren, I recently went through the effort of changing the spark plugs, oil tubes, and o-rings. Thanks to your DIY, it was a breeze (I did remove the mufflers). While removing the mufflers, I noticed that the muffler tube that extends into the cat was oblong and decided to have a muffler shop round-out the tube. I removed both cats. I thought I labeled the 02 sensors properly, but regret that i didn't. Can you tell me which 02 sensor goes to the pre-cat and which goes after the cat. They are, as you know, color-coded. One connection is Black and the other is gray. I believe the BLACK connector goes to the pre-cat........... Thank You,
  7. rear wheel bearing. Common when the car is abused (burnouts, donuts) Cheap fix. Hopefully the spider gears are in tact. PPI immediately!!!!!!!! Tomasz.
  8. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anybody have DIY or a link for removing the standard (3)-stalk and installing the (4)-stalk mechanism to utilize the on-board computer functions. Thanks!
  9. No problem. Eric really is the man! Your ride looks excellent. It really updates the look. Those flat black bumperettes just look old school.........
  10. Just installed my Speed Yellow Bumperettes - painted by Eric. All I can say is AMAZING! They are flawless!. If you have been putting this off, call him and do it. Totally revitalized the car.... http://www.bumperplugs.com/BPindex.html
  11. Is there any difference between the leather or vinyl 99-04 Carrera airbags? I know the material is different, but what about visually? Stitching differences? Emblem size? The reason I ask is that the Leather airbag is actually cheaper than the vinyl airbag............
  12. WHAT?? Name calling? I really don't know who you think you are, but just because you had a 'good' one and a 'bad' one does not justify pushing the 3.4 to the curb. I’ve had the 99,00,01 in my family and have NEVER had one hic-cup. My family has owned nothing but Porsche since conception. Your remarks are biased based on people who have abused their engines and displayed their animosity via the internet. That is why I use the term 'close-minded'. This is my opinion and there are many more just like mine. I respect your opinion, likewise, please respect mine. DO NOT DECIMATE MY NAME ON THIS FORUM AGAIN! If you have something constructive to say to me, please email me or PM me. Your anger comes shinning through in your text…………. Likewise, your 'nasty' posts have no place on this forum or for that matter, any other forum.
  13. I'm not the 'only' person; you just happened to be close-minded. If you research the IMS issue, you will find that the 'early' 996 engines were way overbuilt and unfortunately, as most car-makers do, Porsche down-engineered the IMS shaft and bearing to cut costs. Do more research and you will find that the 3.4's are track tested - true and true. Plus the fact that they are lighter weight vehicles and quicker too, even though they do not have the additional HP that later came with the 3.6's.............READ Friend and feed that grey-matter upstairs..........
  14. We all know who those 'few' members are, don't we.........
  15. Actually, the more commom IMS failures are on the 02 up. The 3.4 is basically bullet-proof
  16. looks like it was the cap, as it has been perfect since.
  17. "An orig. 99 3.4 with 70k is a possible timebomb. Therefore it will not fetch too much $$ as is" You my friend, are what they call a pessimist. A MIS-INFORMED one at that. Please read before you make such lame statements. My only thought to your uneducated remark is that you cannot afford a Porsche and you think by polluting/trolling the internet will 'pull-down' the resale on these cars to where you might be able to purchase the car. I said purchase, not maintain, get it? "However, the key thing for us is the five to ten percent figure. That means that around 90 to 95 percent of early 996s out there are likely to be free of major trouble. And that, we reckon, is a gamble worth taking". This quote was taken from the HP Motorsports website
  18. Loren, The part # is 996 106 447 01. Obviously, it is an 01 cap. Loren, I changed the cap, per my mechanic and the hose has not collapsed since. Will be checking daily. Thanks
