  1. Yeah, they should be easy to find at your local drug store. It's the same size as a common hearing aid battery I believe. LOL!! That would be a rather large hearing aid. Either that, or you have been talking to my mother about my big ears! :lol:
  2. That is why they make Battery Tenders for Porsche's. How long was it before you noticed the LED was still on? My alram is goofing off, and all my LEDs stay on, and I am too chicken to see how long they could stay on if I don't arm the alarm.
  3. Looks like someone "sprung" your top. If it were mine, I would open the top half way and try a tweak on the top to re-align-it. Does it go up and down smoothly?
  4. No water, and module is dry and looks intact. I figured out how to open the fuel hatch, but the alarm is still freaking out.
  5. Well I knew I would be posting here soon with something. I really like my Boxster, and it needs some TLC I think. Here's the problem, I pushed the button to disarm the alarm before my driving today. Everything was fine until I stopped and went to arm the alarm. Nothing happened, no flashing lights, no audible sounds of locking nothing. I thought the car was left un-locked so I used the key to lock the door. That's when I noticed that the normal red flasher for the alarm was not flashing but two adjacent ones were! I then determined that the car is locked the whole time and I overrode everything? I thought the battery in the remote was bad so I replaced it to no avail. I also discovered that the fuel hatch does not come un-locked no matter what state the alarm is in. That could be a problem, soon. Is this something like a dead remote head on the key, or is it time to go to the dealer for a code reading?? Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

  7. 89% in a Porsche is not going to cut it, IMO Ditch the battery.
  8. One has to scrape it off. I have heard of Toothpaste (old school Crest)working fairly well.
  9. Hmm, sounds like the wiring harness in the trunk should be examined for damaged wiring? That is weird.
  10. Those mecahnics are wasting your time and money. A simple compression test will reveal the suspected blown head gasket. That's what I think it is. The oil cooler doesn't compute for me.

  12. Better check the oil to see if the coolant is there. Could be a blown head gasket. Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news. :(

  15. I was thinking the same thing. About both.
  16. If it is happening upon opening the door, slow down and give the window a chance to lower itself(its automatic). If it is hitting on the closing, then a micro-switch is not working correctly as another poster mentioned.
  17. The smoke was greyish in color, it smelled like combustion gases to me. I was just suprised to see so much smoke after only sitting a couple of hours. As for my location, I am in central Ca. (Clovis). Many thanks for the responses guys! B)
  18. Some like to smoke after dinner, or after sex, but the other day my '04 Boxster took up smoking after driving! Firstly, the car has 30k on it and drives superbly. It does that little puff thing when starting after being idle for a couple of days so that makes sense. However, the other day my wife drove the car around doing short trips. She never speeds and drives the car like its the Pope's. We parked the car for a few HOURS, and when we left for the evening I fired the car up and OMG! the biggest plume of smoke came out of the tailpipe! At first I thought it was the infamous AOS, but the smoke went away quickly like the other times. I know that Porsche doesn't like their cars to be used as grocery getters, but I never knew that car would be able to tell and give such immediate feedback. Is this phenom normal if the car gets driven around and doesn't get a "goosing" before being stabled?? PS. After the smokefest, I drove the car like I stole it and the next day the car didn't smoke one bit. Thanks for reading my posting! :renntech:
  19. I think you are on the right track with the torque converter being the issue.
  20. I think we can assume that that coasting a mile or two down a mountain pass is going to cause speeds in excess of 15mph. With modern transmissions the issue is not with "coasting" in N at a higher speed it is the required shift in and out of N at higher speeds that some cars don't like. I wouldn't do it with any automatic tranny, let alone a Tiptronic. :o
  21. Forget about the aerodynamics, get a new panel for those coolant lines or fluid dynamics could be a problem.
  22. Wow, sounds like another sticky caliper issue, or the pads are wearing to the replacement point.
