  1. Definitely looks like a speaker from a car phone hands free kit.
  2. Nick, The first thing I would do would be to replace the battery. Even though it may seem fine when you test it with a voltmeter, the voltage drop when you press the button on the fob may be too great. Did the problem happen before or after you modified the antenna lead? If it started after, did you go back and double-check the length of the lead? If the lead isn't the correct length, 130 mm for US cars, the remote will not function properly. It may seem trivial, but antennas are very sensitive and if it is, ever so slightly, too long or too short it can change the frequency it is capable of receiving. I worked with cellular phones in the late 80's and early 90's when most phones were not handheld. One of the biggest complaints we would get was reception. Nine times out of 10 it was caused by the owner angling the antenna instead of leaving it straight up and down or modify the spiral to try to reduce the wind noise it would make. This would cause the radio signal to “miss” the antenna. I did have a similar problem after my remote went through the washing machine. It worked okay for a while but then began working sporadically as you described. I eventually just replace the remote and all has been well since. Dan Hinkebein
  3. Sorry to bring up an old topic but I've been reading the previous post and haven't found what I'm looking for. I'm getting the 0410 OBDII code. My secondary air pump is funtioning on cold starts but I belive either as sensor or relay is going bad. The reason I belive this is because right before the CEL comes on, I can hear the pump kick off at what seems to be very early. The engine has not come to operating temp yet actually the temp guage hasn't moved at all when this happens. Does anyone have the specs? What temp should the pump kick out at? Is this controled by an internal sensor / relay or is there an external sensor / relay that controls it? Is it triggered by engine temp, exhaust temp or what? Thanks, Dan
  4. No, I'm afraid that the problem with mine is more then an out of sync issue. It had taken a spin in the washing machine. Even though I had dried it thoroughly, it only worked for a short time after. Dan
  5. I have tried many different things to attempt to get the remote working again and have come to the conclusion that my remote will need to be replaced. Dan
  6. Ibro, My factory mats came with a set of 4 large plastic screws. These are intended to be screwed down into the carpet below the velcro patches on the back side of the mats. The head of these screws are about 3 inches in diameter and are rigid across the top, similar to the stiffer side of a strip of velcro but much more rigid. I'm not sure if they are available as a separate item. Your local Porsche Dealer should be able to help.
  7. Has anyone seen this? I just came across this on e-bay. It's the first time I have seen the glass window replacement top available in the US. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=33652
  8. Gary, I belive when you refer to "7" you are talking about the GAL setting. This tells the head unit at what rate of speed to begin automatically adjusting the volume. I keep mine set on 1 so that it begins at low speeds. The easiest way I have found to demonstrate that this adjustment is working is set your volume to a normal listening level while your sitting still. The adjustment is so subtle, you will not notice it as you accelerate. Once your at highway speed, press the eject button so that the face plate flips open as if you were going to load a CD. Once the face plate is open, the automatic volume control is defeated. Closing the face plate will reactivate the setting.
  9. The remote control for my 99 Boxster stopped working today. The indicator light on the remote flashes when either of the buttons are pressed but it will not unlock the doors or open the trunk. I can unlock the doors with the key and the lock switch on the dash functions properly. I have tested all of the fuses in my fuse block with my multi-meter and all are good. When you lock the doors with the key, then light on the lock switch flashes for a few seconds then the indicator on the top of the dash flashes so I belive the alarm is functioning properly. Is there any way to test the remote to see if it's actually transmitting? Are there any other fuses I need to check besides the ones in the fuse block in the drivers side kick panel? My key did take a spin in the washing machine this past weekend. When I retrieved it, I removed the battery, took the circuit board from the remote dried the inside of the housing and allowed the circuit board to dry completely before putting everything back together with a new battery. Everything has worked fine for the last 5 days and as I said the indicator light is working. Thanks, Dan
