  1. Summer tires: I just put on Toyo Proxes S/T(20")...SWEET! The ride is way better than the Diamaris I replaced(not as harsh...same handling). Got 'em at onlinetires.com $690.00 delivered and had them balanced and mounted $125.00= $815.00 compared to Diamaris at $1525.00. I'll spend the $710.00 difference on something fun! The tires aren't N rated but they're extra duty and W speed rated. I don't drive faster than 159 mph :rolleyes: . Sweet looking, too.
  2. Buy an instrument cluster for Cayenne S on EBay...the rings are actually one piece that screws on...you can remove the black ring-piece from the V6 cluster and directly screw on the aluminum look ring-piece taken off the S instument cluster.
  3. Believe me...there is NO noticable performance improvement and, at least on the V-6, the pipe gives a tin-can rattley sound at high rev's that's somewhat embarrassing. Sounds like my '75 Vega when it rusted a hole in front of the muffler...not impressive at all! :(
  4. Yea... Don't hold your breath...I don't think that VF is really going to produce one. I tried to contact Nik again, too but to no avail. Too bad...huh? :(
  5. I had the same problem with their inferior product :censored: ...I used hanger strap to anchor the pipe away from the diff, since there are no mounts on their pipe, but the rattle remained. It's more of a resonance/leak problem that Joe and Fabspeed definately know about (I've spoken to him personally on several occasions) but lend a DEAF ear to. I would not recommend Fabspeed for anything...go with another good company for your bypass/exhaust needs.

  7. Well...not really! I just replaced my steering wheel with the wood and everything was just fine when I reconnected the battery. Some settings may revert back to factory pre-set(audio bass, treble, etc.) but nothing that a dealer has to recode! The hard part is getting the air bag off if you've never done it before. In the back of the existing steering wheel there are access ports or holes near the base of each horizontal spoke. You can feel it on the back of the wheel hub if you turn the steering wheel 90 degrees so the spoke points up. To get the air bag off, leave your key in the ignition after turning the car off. Access the battery under the driver seat and un-seat the ground cable(instructions in the manual). Wait at least a minute after power's off, according to the tech. manual, to be safe to unhook the air bag. :eek: Don't worry...it won't blow on you!! Insert a short thin flat screwdriver into the port on the back almost at a 45 degree angle down. Engage wire clip and lever it down very firmly to disengage; took me several tries and some cussin' :cursing: ; rotate wheel and repeat behind other spoke. you'll feel the air bag(top) release when you catch the clip right. Tug gently but firmly on the top edge of the AB unit until it rotates part way out. Disconnect wire harness and it's off. You need a "XZN" or "triple square" socket wrench to remove the wheel bolt. These look like the Torx wrench but with more tines(12). Remove center bolt, take off old wheel, put on new & replace bolt. The airbag then is replugged to the wire harness, lined up and reattached at the bottom first then rotated toward the top. It takes some effort to re-engage the clips at the top of the airbag...you intermittently push on the airbag with the left then right hand and test for attachment by tugging on the top edge. Power up and you're done!!
  8. Porsche calls for use of a "plastic spatula" for prying off and removal of interior plastic trim pieces. I always wondered what the heck they were talking about and just tried not to mar stuff up when using a screw driver. Bojoinc.com offers some real nice sets of plastic non-marring pry tools designed for just this...and at less than $20 you can get a set of four tools that have proven invaluable to me during PSM install, pulling panels/clips to run wires, etc.. Check 'em out. Just wanted to tell you all :D
  9. The procedure is NOT the same... Here's correct procedure for the Cayenne Automatic Shift Knob... 1. Apply park brake 2. Shift selector to drive(car must be running) 3. Firmly pull shift knob off of shaft(do not press selector button on shift knob while doing this) 4. To re-attach knob...place a short flat head screw driver under button on shift knob to wedge it forward gently while push the knob/shaft back onto the selector rod. Push until it snaps to place. 5. test for proper function and shift back to park before releasing park brake. :clapping:
  10. Hey Everyone!! Just got off the phone with Nick who's the head of R&D at VF Engineering. Theyv'e finished work on developement of a supercharger for the V8 Cayenne and are offering it as a bolt on kit. Also...for the V6 Cayenne...they're looking for an owner of a V6 near the Anaheim area or anywhere in CA for that matter who's willing to let them use your Cayenne for a month to tweak the supercharger for it before releasing it as a kit. Nick said you'd get an awesome deal for the supercharger in your Cayenne and if you can stomach renting a car for a few weeks or if you have other wheels to drive they'd definately make it worth your while. For the V6, the supercharger is 6psi, est HP gain approx 80-90 HP bringing the total to around 330 hp or so for the V6. Also good torque increase. Est. cost is $5000 for the V6. Go to VF-engineering.com and check on the kit for the Touareg V6 for more specs...they're both very similar. If interested e-mail Nick at Nik@vf-engineering.com. As discussed, we are looking for a Cayenne V6 to be left with us for a month to allow us to adjust our duct work for the throttle body which is located differently to the Treg. You may be aware that the Cayenne V6 has the Treg engine but just a different manifold. We would also retune software on our 4wd dyno and offer the test car customer a 50% discount on the kit and there would be no labor charge. We are currently finishing up on our V8 kit and are keen to complete the V6 kit, but need a test car. Thanks Nik Saran Head of R&D, CEO
  11. The company is HEIZGERAT SETZT. I'm installing the HEIZGERAT SETZT II with illuminated switch. One thing I can't decide on is whether to place the switches at the side of each seat which would be easy or on the center console where the OEM switches normally are. I also contemplated buying the OEM switches and using them. The rocker switches that come with the units are small, round and lit and show diff.colors for heat settings...actually pretty nice. But I like the OEM look.
  12. Well...here I go...maybe paving a new path for Cayenne owners? I'm going to install OEM quality seat heaters on the front seats. Porsche does not offer retrofitting and I'd really like heated seats here in CO. :beer: Found a very high quality kit, have studied up on seat removal and cover removal including Air Bag precautions, and purchased a hog ring plier kit to boot :( WISH me Luck!!! I'll take pics.

OR...if you just want to remove the ashtray insert to empty or clean it...there is a small spring-action slider release , same color as the ashtray plastic just inside the front lip located between the lighter socket and the insert. Slide it towards the lighter socket and the tray releases...took me a while to figure this one out :cursing: !!!

  15. Actually I hardwired mine directly to the passenger fuse panel...was a little iffy about adding amps to the homelink circuit. Thanks again for the PCM unit...
  16. The sound was too "tinny/rattle-y"...like that "blinged" Honda Civic we've all heard accelerate and laughed at :lol: ...not a deep gutteral power-like sound I had hoped for. Could probably get the same sound by drilling a few holes in the exhaust and loosening the pipe clamps. <_<
  17. Had a week off over the holidays and spent a lot of time on my Cayenne doing these things. Everything works perfect (not bragging :P ... just proud) so if anyone needs guidance :help: let me know. Thanks Mudman, I've used your photos and direction a lot!!!!! I hard-wired the Sirius antenna (from Starbase kit) to the PCM2 (just installed) and mounted the receiver on the center console ashtray cover with all wires concealed. I've also DIY'ed: lighted sills(sweet!), Park Assist(aftermarket), mud flaps(painted body color), side protectors, roof rails, hardwired V1 detector, LED parking lights in front, instrument cluster switch-out for CayenneS model(aluminum rings), dark wood gear selector change-out, and Fabspeed bypass(V6) which I later removed and replaced with original cat.(too rackety, Ricer-like for me :( ). It's for sale... along with a perfectly good CDR23 radio, and all the original aluminum look interior trim(perfect shape). I've got base Cayenne 17" wheels with good Dunlop GrandTreks for free if you'll pay to have them shipped to you. Also new factory mud flap front and rear kit I didn't use. I've got to get this stuff out of my garage!! If you want anything, or pics of anything drop me a line...just lovin' my Cayenne!!! :cheers:

  19. $100...had it on for 2 weeks...the wife didn't like it...she's more into the quieter "refined" sound...so the friggin' cat is back on <_< I can take a picture of it if you like...it's the Fabspeed
