  1. This is something that they should have take care of after replacing the glass. But Loren gave you the best info. Be careful though, I've heard from the techs that replaced my CS windshield a couple years ago that those adjustment bolts break easily...
  2. On the S model with those wheels, this shouldn't be a problem.
  3. I would say your MPG is accurate. I have a GTS and I often use it in Sport Mode and probably get a little less than 13 or 14. That's at least partly because it starts in D1 instead of D2. Autobahn / Highway mileage has always been better than city in both the Cayennes that I've owned. HTH
  4. It's true. I bought a new key at the dealership in Zuffenhausen and they charged 177 euros (at the time, probably about $200 bucks). It should NOT cost $550.
  5. I've been considering these as well but I don't think I want to replace the whole door trim. They'd be worth it for me because my son sits in the back and always complains about the sun. I've just got some cheap screen from the dollar store with 2 black suction cups on the window. Not bad, just looks a little lame in a Cayenne GTS... :huh:
  6. Not really. I just bought the car from the US and had it shipped to me in Germany so I'm relatively unfamiliar with it. Have all service records but had a COOLANT LEVEL LOW message the second day I had it last week. Other than that I did notice it warms up quickly compared to my CS but it's got 55 more HP so I thought that would cause. That and it's summer :-/ I didn't ask for the code. I should have. Darnit. I have about 2 weeks to evaluate before the repair appt I made so I can see if the CEL returns. I also learned there's a special tool needed to remove the thermostat. Can anyone conf
  7. Hey gang, I'm a relative novice when it comes to repairing cars, but I'd like to start doing more. Got the CEL on my CGTS the other day and I took it to Porsche today and the thermostat needs to be replaced. Is this a possible DIY opportunity? I'm not entirely inept at repairs and I can follow complex instructions, but I've not done this by myself before and I'd like to give it a try if it's relatively straightforward. What would you recommend? Porsche said the part costs 40-50 euros and will take about 2.5 hours installation. At 125 euros per hour labor cost (that's about $165 per ho
  8. This is correct. The same thing happened to me with my 2005 CS - didn't seem like anyone took it to the shop! One half of the horn didn't work; dome light didn't work; coolant pipes soon after I bought it; ignition coils were effed - good thing I still had a warranty. Being on the lookout for things that are known to fail is a great way to not get frustrated with these cars. If you expect it, IMO it's only half as bad as if it's dropped in my lap. But nobody likes thousands of $$$ in repair.

  11. Dang! I just ran across the mObridge on Amazon for 700 bucks! That stuff ain't cheap. Don't know what I was expecting, but that surprised me a little. I'll have to look on ebay or something. If anyone has a used one they'd like to sell, please let me know. Thanks again for the tips, guys. I don't think I'll be doing the CD changer, either. I'd rather have the flexibility of the mObridge that use the CDs again.

  13. Forgot to address the iPod thing. I don't think I have that input in my GTS. I have a crappy FM transmitter, which I hate. Got a cool (easier than the changer) idea? I'm all ears. Thanks!
  14. Thanks for the info guys. I did a search on the changers but couldn't find anything. I will check the TSB section, hadn't thought of that. If they're pre-wired, why is it such an undertaking? I still haven't been able to check out where those cables are but the mount is definitely there. Hopefully tomorrow - whole family is sick so we will have to see! Thanks for the info.
  15. If you have a GPS, the clocks are set on the time zone you set up in the PCM. Make sure your time zone and summer time/winter time is selected/de-selected, as appropriate.
  16. Hey gang - question about my '08 CGTS. I don't have the CD changer installed, but the bracket is there. I also have the Bose speaker system. Question is, are these vehicles pre-wired for a CD changer or would I have to run the cables to install one? I would think that it's pre-wired since the mount is there and it's got the Bose, but I didn't see any cables laying around back there when I looked yesterday. It's all pretty tight in that storage area. There are some sort of modules mounted and plugged in there (don't know what they are or what they do yet), if anybody knows....? I can tak
  17. Excellent - thanks for the responses! That's what I ended up doing. Took about 2.5L. Shouldn't be an issue, I don't think. There was some air that escaped when I opened the cap, so I'm pretty sure it's all still sealed. Checked under the car yesterday as well because I had it inspected for registration and it was all bone dry. Since I just got the car from shipment, I'm assuming the dealership just didn't check it before the sale. Funny it was low, since I asked the inspector to check all the fluids when I paid him to go there before I bought the car! :drive: Anyway, thanks again
  18. Just got my 2008 CGTS today - and I love it! Except for the fact that the coolant light came on. Question is this: can I just top off with water until I have a chance to get some? I don't have coolant at home. If I can top it off with water, how long do I have to get to the shop for a check - assuming no leak? Thanks for the info and sorry if it's a silly question :)
  19. Same thing happened to mine. I had the used-car warranty on it and it was, thankfully - fully covered. Twice, actually. Not sure what the issues were other than the original plastic pipe replacement, though.
  20. I have this problem too on my CS 2005. It was really bad up until the dealer repaired some sort of valves or thrusters (they said it in German, but I don't remember off the top of my dome). But after a while, it's returned but only very occassionally. It used to be that I could manipulate the car into doing it after slow-downs and in curves. I just can't predict when it will happen anymore. It might happen once in a couple of months, but still very annoying. If you somehow find a solution, please let us know! Even the Porsche guys in Germany can't seem to fix it.
  21. I had the same problem and had the seals replaced. The shop also discovered the tracks were defective that the headlights slide in on. I don't know what was wrong, just know they replaced that. When the seals weren't there, the light unit was sliding out of the plug in the back causing the lightbuld faults.
  22. I test-drove the V6 before eventually buying the S and found it to be terribly slow in comparison. The V8 is an excellent ride.
  23. Does anyone have any pictures or a diagram of this procedure? Mine is making a horribly loud noise as if it's stuck but still trying to move. Sometimes it works, but mostly it doesn't anymore. The vehicle sat in the parking lot the last week because I was on vacation and now it's hardly ever working. It used to only be intermittent. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
