  1. Too bad, the CET replacement is really simple procedure IMHO.. You could save some good $ doing it yourself... and have the satisfaction of doing it yourself! (priceless)
  2. Hey Rabbit7 Per your code P0021 P0021 Inlet Camshaft Position in relation to Crankshaft, Bank 2 - Above/Below Limit Possible cause of fault - Timing set incorrectly - Chain extended - Camshaft adjuster loose - Rotor of inlet camshaft sensor in incorrect position - Inlet camshaft sensor not installed correctly ALSO CHECK CONDITION OF YOUR BATTERY! Hey Rabbit, I'm going to replace my Valve Body with a RevMax, do you have a moment to speak with me regarding the installation process (Fluid, VB, etc) maybe speak over phone? Thanks!
  3. Hey Guys..Getting ready to do the Trans Fluid Change... This article from Pelican says I should jack and allow the wheels to spin when filling and changing gears to suck up the trans fluid http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Porsche-Cayenne/89-TRANS-Automatic_Transmission_Fluid_and_Filter_Change/89-TRANS-Automatic_Transmission_Fluid_and_Filter_Change.htm I just want to confirm whether or not the wheels need to spin to get the fluid sucked up into the tranny? Thanks!
  4. Resurecting this thread, I had my fuel pumps and flange replaced.. Still having the Idle dip and rumble when coming to a stop. My next fix will be to clean the Throttle Body and replace seal as mentioned earlier.. I will report Has anyone with this issue successfully fixed the problem yet?!
  5. Yes, you need to remove the inner front wheel liners which will give you "limited" access to both horns (one on each side) Removal and installation is mostly done by "feel" and "touch" as the visual/access is slim to none. Make sure you put the correct horn on the correct side. As Loren and the others have mentioned, there is a high tone and low tone horn I did this procedure a while ago (changed the side makers as well since I was already there) it is a bit awkward repair, not the easiest but certainly doable
  6. Sorry to keep beating on this post but when going though the gears to esentially "suck up" the transmission fluid, should the wheels be spinning when going though the gears or should you keep foot on brake? the car will obviously be up on stands but not sure if the the wheels and transmission should be esentially spinng while going thought the fluid addition process
  7. Hey Loren (if you are out there!) Can you PM the actual Transmission Fluid Replacement Procedures that the Porsche Gods wrote in the bible
  8. I just spoke with both Redline and Aisin regarding their fluid and it may be a good idea before I pony up ~$800 for a new Valve Body to just replace the Trans fluid to see if that my settle the shifting issues/concerns. The AT fluid was replaced (along with transfer fluid) at 90K and I;m now at 120K However, I'm still worried that the Valve Body may take out the transmission if I wait too long per what Porsche and RevMax has mentioned to me. FYI, interesting fact found out after speaking with Aisin. Their fluid was the original fill on our Trannys off the assembly line http://aisinaftermarket.com/uploads/ATFBrochureComp.pdf
  9. Hi hahnmgh63 Yes, I'm familiar with Redline and used it on my Audi TT that had notchy 1st and 2nd gear. Does Redline D4 and Mobil 3309 meet/exceed Porsche OEM Trans Fluid Specs.? If were not talking much difference in $, maybe staying with Porsche OEM fluid may be good decision? I spoke with Mobil regarding their fluids and the type of vehicle I have. They basically said go with OEM fluids based on my Vehicle (odd comment but thats what they said). I spoke with RevMax and they said no need to replace any bolts that attach either the VB to the tranny nor the Tranny pan itself. I did read somewhere else that there were bolts to be replaced but not sure where I saw that. Not sure what Torque specs for VB and Tranny pan Yes, I'm aware of both VAGCom as well as Durametric and yes, I should invest in one.. I do have a laser thermo gun which I guess Ill use as others have had success with it. I will eventually have to make the durametric investment (I have a '01 996 Cabrio as well) I heard both sides that you need Durametric to reset "adapatation" but also hear that you don't and will relearn on its own after Trans Fluid/VB replacement
  10. wrinkledpants & 5thlilpiggyHa! Thank you for the words of encouragement, Ill go ahead and do it myself then.. I always end up saying I could have done a better job myself when I have someone else do it anyway ;) Going to order the RevMax 09D TR60SN Valve Body (2003-2005) right now... I'm getting their Filter, Gasket kits as well, I would assume these are quality replacements? They said not OEM but sold many of the kits and no complaints. Couple of last Q's... 1.) From what I read, stay with Porsche Transmission Fluid ? Specs? 2004 Cayenne S 5.2L 2.) Torque specs I should be aware of with regards to the VB and Pan. Do I need to change out any of the bolts that hold in the VB? 3.) What to use to (solvent and or just rags) clean up the Transmission Pan and Magnets?
  11. So biting the bullet and moving forward with replacing original Valve Body with RevMax OE upgraded (Sonnax internals) Valve Body... Deep breath... Details.. 2004 Porsche Cayenne S with 120,000 miles Have had intermittent "clunk" (since owned at 50K mi). Intermittently presents itself when slowing down from 3rd to 2nd gear as well as transition "lag" then "clunk" upon acceleration from 2nd to 3rd. Not as prevalent in 4th and 5th gear under heavy acceleration with load as others experience/report. Carden Shaft and flexplate has been inspected several times by dealer and indi and shaft reported stiff, straight and sold. Transmission fluid (as well as gearbox) changed around 75K - 90K. Fluid change did help clunk issue but has become more prevalent over time. My Question: I have the ability to change this out however the Fluid change procedure kind of freaks me out and I obviously don't want to screw this up. Anyone able or available to give a hand to a fellow Pig owner in the San Fernando Valley (Woodland Hills) area of Los Angeles.? :) OR.. Is there a reputable Porsche indi in my area that has experience swapping out said Valve Body at a reasonable price. It looks like labor is about $400 to $500 not including parts.. Total about $1,200.00
  12. Just TWO cents for the coolant smell... 1.) Leaking Coolant Expansion Tank AKA CET (Seams on CET start to fail over time) 2.) There is also coolant that flows though your passenger side (glove box area) as part of the Heating and A/C system, I heard there can be coolant leaks from there as well but you should see some moisture in that area from the coolant leak.
  13. Hi hahnmgh63, Thanks for the advice.. Yes, I've been under there several times to replace the cabin filter... Just starting to hear a really strange noise when starting up the car after sitting for a while and putting on the A/C I pull the filter and inspect, if no leaves fall out assume blower motor? Should I proactively replace if the blower motor is the cause (even though system still working) or wait till it goes DOA? On a side note... I'm not getting much air flow though the top vent on the top of dashboard ( the big oval shaped black grate) not sure if that is related to blower motor
  14. Random startup noise when turning on a/c It goes away after a few seconds but strange sounds Sounds like leaves rattling in the glove box? Blower motor or could it be actual leaves Have not opened up lower cover under glovebox where in cabin filter and blower motor live yet
  15. Replace both pumps while you are there Made the mistake not to and left fuel pump failed Luckily remembered the fuel pump fuse trick and was able to get myself home! You all are warned when replacing the flanges! Do the pumps as well!
  16. Is this a universal part.. meaning will this fit my 2004 Cayenne "S" Did some research and there "may" be several different versions for the engine mount "bracket"?

  18. Does anyone know what the part # for the black mount (not the torque arm) that mounts to the body and the torque arm attaches to? Reason for asking is just changed out my leaking CET and noticed significant rust corrosion on the mount itself Again not looking for the torque arm that mounts to engine rather the black steel mount that connects to the body

  20. I saw the Pelican DIY on the mirror.. They touched on the folding motor but did not go into much detail on the folding portion, just mirror adjustment Does anyone have an exploded view so I can see how this is all put toghether? The interesting part of this is the mirror housing itself is no longer "solid" / "stable" It now has some play and looseness to the whole housing.. Will a broken motor make the housing loose and not stable? It was also suggested to clean and/or replace the mirror adjustment knob/controller unit but not sure if that will resolve.

  22. Thanks for the info mcbit, do you happen to have a DIY link for this or a exploded view of the sideview mirror assembly and motor? Maybe Loren?
