  1. I ran my 09 GTS with DRL on for 3 years with no issues; my current turbo has the auto position so no DRL.
  2. I know that DLR cannot be de-activated in Canada, don't know about Europe. Perhaps it can be done PIWIS or Durametric?
  3. You probably have your lights set to Daylight Running which is available through the central Multi Function Display.
  4. Well at least its, in my opinon, in the best hands in the Emirates; some hard choices ahead. AED 144k seems a lot for a new engine though as most people on the forums are quoting $20k, which I believe I would stretch to, to keep my C4S on the road. I haven't had mine for that long but I'm already deeply attached to it. Good luck with Alex!
  5. Sorry to hear about your issue Nehme it's what we all dread. Were you able to establish the source of the coolant which was all over the engine bay? Blown out of the oil filler? Who is doing the work for you?
  6. It sounds too cheap to me! on mobil.de I see typically older turbos with similar or higher mileages for EUR 16,000 - 18,000 I would expect a decent CTTS to be around 20% to 25% more.
  7. ....the Caribbean, Malta, Cyprus, South and East Africa, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Australasia, a substantial proportion of South East Asia and Japan, off the top of my head.
  8. Does't like wind, my tries to take off on the drying cycle of the non contact car wash! :)
  9. ... the oil spray piston cooling on the 4.5L turbos will lubricate the bore and piston skirt earlier when the oil is cold and viscous than the NA engine which is relying on splash.
  10. To start off with there are far more posts asking the question that you are asking that there are unique posts documenting the problem. There is no cylinder lining in the Porsche M48 engines which cover all Cayenne and Panamera V8s, they are manufactured entirely from a hypereutectic aluminium alloy called Alusil where the silica crystals are exposed to form the bore wear surface. There are documented instances of bore scoring in these engines which are more prevalent in very cold climates; my Indy (probably the biggest independent Porsche specialist in the ME region) has not seen this problem in any of the V8s over here. Where it occurs it is limited mainly to Normally Aspirated engines with Forced Induction engines being relatively trouble free more than likely due the oil spray piston cooling which on the 4.5L turbo engines; all 4.8L engines have this feature. There is no definitive answer as to why this problem occurs but indicators point to poor lubrication at start up caused possibly by very cold oil or low oil levels. Over here the vast majority of available 4.5L Cayennes have +200,000km on them. It may be prudent to run a bore scope but I certainly would have no issues buying a V8 Cayenne; I'm now on my 3rd. I would be more concerned about buying a car with an engine with a burnt valve where the owner had only taken care of the immediate problem.
  11. Agreed....i do believe all Turbos in 2004 came with air suspension, 2 speed transfer case, and locking FRONT diff. Rear locking diff was an option for all models. 955 & 957 turbos come as standard with air suspension, transfer case and locking centre diff. Locking rear diff is an option, locking front diff is not available.
  12. My 4S is pretty solid at 240 kph, I haven't yet had the opportunity to take it faster. It is more affected by road surfaces than the Cayenne which just gets more planted the faster I drive it.
  13. It doesen't sound like anything I've ever seen on a PCM screen
  14. Sounds like you may have a 3rd party Nav system in there, do you have any photos of the dash?
  15. I had exactly the same problem with my 2005 CTT it was the kessy module which was at fault, not cheap but it seems that some have solved the problem cheaply by opening it up and repairing it. Other threads have dealers diagnosing all of the antennae being faulty, again not likely! See post below http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/37055-keyless-kessy-entry-problem-fixed-after-5-dollars-and-1-hour-o/
  16. This happened to me in the 996 C4S Tip for the first time this morning, when it recovered the gauge was reading 60C after which it slowly rose to 80C. Based on this a couple of questions: What is the source of the vacuum which operates the disc valve? Since I've had the car I've thought that it warms up a little slowly. Its winter here now so morning starting temperature is around 20C. In the CTT coolant is at 80C in 3-4 minutes and oil temp at 90C about 7 mins after starting. Since owning the C4S it has taken at least 10-12 mins for the coolant to reach 80C; is this normal for a 996 3.6L engine at this starting temperature? Any feedback appreciate, thanks.
  17. There are a large number of After Sales Training Manuals available to contributing members here on Renntech.
  18. 05 turbo went again after I sold the car to a mate, 110k km and 3 years later.
  19. Yep, that's Alex Renner. I sold my 05 CTT (195,000km) to a colleague and it's still on original coolant pipes, cardan shaft and transmission valve body, and I know of others on 150k+ km still on original coolant pipes. I was doing the Abu Dhabi commute so 5k km/month and a 20k km service 3 times a year; it always cost a bit at service time but never anything in between. I was always happy that the car was in the best possible shape. Sounds nice, have fun with it.
  20. If you are planning to carry on living with the car, since they are both the same age, I'd say it was a good idea to replace both whilst you are in there.
  21. I cannot comment on coil pack issues as in around 100k miles of Cayenne (3 cars) ownership I have never had a spark related problem. However what you describe in the first two lines of your first post is identical to what I experienced when one of my fuel pumps failed. The car may run normally again after switching off and restarting. With regards to the rich issue, a number of people have reported improved fuel economy after fuel pump replacement.
