  1. I can only suggest that the transaxle/clutch assembly be removed and torn down for inspection, it sounds like you have damage to the clutch disc as well as the transaxle. Just curious.... how well did the burn out go??
  2. Why in the world would you take it apart?? I think you might have damaged it beyond repair. Try putting it back together and see if it still works. Best of luck.
  3. The turbo uses a different engine case compared to the 986/996 and to my knowledge isn't effected by the RMS problems..... if it isn't broke, don't fix it!
  4. Team996, if you don't like the thread move-on and don't post in it. Didn't they teach you any manners in your school? I think he has the right to give his opinion on this thread. I also shook my head when I read the title.
  5. I think it connects to a speed sensor for a tool that measures engine RPM for setting CO mixture... or at least that's the only thing that comes to mind.
  6. I think the TDC is more of a "U" shape and the other marks are a "V" shape. If you pop the dist.cap off the rotor should align with a line stamped into the dist. housing looking from above.
  7. I believe it's for a test tool Porsche used to use at the time..... is it a round connector with five or so pins inside??
  8. Nick_USA.... How many more sleeps until your car arrives? Please post loads of pics when the day finally comes.
  9. I think this a great forum, loads of new post everyday and very helpful people. Are you using the "View New Post" icon (under the main toolbar)near the top right corner of the page?
  10. What are the open circuit voltage of the battery? What is the voltage drop while cranking? Is it possible that you didn't reconnect a ground path?
  11. Wow.... never heard of this happening before. I thought that Porsche used Platinum since the 928 days to coat their brake lines so this stuff didn't occur. Anyone know if this is true or not??
  12. Very nice Chuck.... I think it looks the business
  13. I had a similar code on a VW and it turned out to be a blown fuse..... wouldn't hurt to have a looked at them.
  14. I've also heard that resetting the trip odometer whilst driving it can damage the mechanism in the speedo head.
  15. There are loads of reports of secondary air injection problems on these cars.... best do a search on ths forum.
  16. Sounds like the headlight switch might have failed.
  17. I don't know how they two could be connected, must be a coincidence. Get the code checked and post them here.
  18. Welcome to the forum. No it is not normal and they should park. Inside the wiper motor there are contacts for the park mechanism. It sounds like the motor assembly needs to be replaced. I have had success in cleaning/retensioning the contacts in the past. What part of Canada are you in?? Oh and congratulations on the new car.
  19. I have this same set sold by MacTools and it has saved me countless times. Highly recommended.
  20. Sorry but I thought you have to set the bass/trebble seperately for the radio and CD.
  21. I think you've opened the drain for the front differential.... although I've never seen under a Cayenne so this is just a guess.
  22. Try turning back the ignition key slightly...... it sounds like the ignition switch is failing.
  23. Might be worth looking into taking the unit out and getting the switch gear cleaned at your local audio/TV repair shop. Sounds like the potentiometer for the rotarty switch is just dirty.
  24. Did they mention where the oil was leaking from? Best get a second opinion. What part of the country are you in??
  25. Glad to know this is a DIY sort of thing..... thanks for reporting back.
