  1. If it's running it won't be a sensor as the speed sensors are inputs to the Motronic so you'll need to find the output signal from the Motronic to the cluster and monitor that for signal.
  2. I own the MS908P which is the newest and it indeed does more than Durametric especially on the Cayenne. If you shop around a 708 can be had for $500CND. I also own Durametric Pro which is the best value for the money but is weak on Cayenne points and was getting sick of the bogus fault code readings or it not being able to recognise modules. If you own any other Porsche model I highly recommend Durametric. I'll be glad to try and answer any questions you have about Autel as I've used the 708 also.
  3. The RPM signal is sent from the motronic unit and you'd need to check the wiring diagram for details. I've sent 911 tachs out for repair and can recommend Palo Alto Speedometer, give them a ring and perhaps they can shed some light on the issue and might know of a common fault with the 944 cluster. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
  4. It's probably a fault in the cluster, the simple act of disconnecting and connecting the electrical cables for the cluster might solve the issue or a simple thud on the dash might bring it to life.
  5. Dangerous removing the cap whilst under pressure. You're overthinking this, remove the expansion tank and replace it. The cayenne will self bleed easily so no need to put it under a vacuum.
  6. Verify that the cooling fan in the PCM unit is functioning correctly. They easily overheat and it cause odd issues.
  7. Difficult to say what the problem is but it is internal to the head unit. The successful repair rate is low on such items so might be best to replace with a used unit or aftermarket.
  8. There are several systems that need to power up when you insert the key to cranking position. This is a complicated vehicle and best to have it towed to an OPC or experienced independent garage familiar with the Cayenne many systems. Unless you can scan these modules correctly and activate certain sub-systems you'll just lead yourself down the garden path and replace many unnecessary parts. The fact that the vehicle stalled whilst driving is worrying but it might be something simple such as a failed fuse or main relay located under the drivers seat but I highly recommend having it towed and spending the money on an accurate diagnoses.
  9. The first three digits often denote the model or in house model number, the second group of three is the part category such as cooling system or what have you and the last three are the actual part in the categories often followed by numbers or letters which refer to updated parts, colour codes etc....
  10. Just to add to RFMs note, I also had a vehicle that made an odd sound which was traced to the windscreen wipers not being installed correctly after a screen replacement, the wipers were installed too high and caused the noise. Is it possible to post a sound clip of the noise?
  11. Verify the ground cables from engine to chassis, they would have been removed when the engine was rebuilt.
  12. Yes it could have. If the latch isn't fully engaging the clasping mechanism then the micro switch inside the unit won't be triggered to operate the soft close function. You should be able to see the original bolt marks and set the latch to them.
  13. As bigbuzuki already suggested, check the intercooler hose. The part has been updated to resolve this issue.
  14. That line is the vent for the front differential, the purple fluid on the subframe on your last pic in the first post is probably from the hydraulic engine mounts. You need to determine what fluid type you actually have sprayed all over the area.
  15. Press down the spring loaded cover in the latch area and be sure there is nothing trapped in there, I've pulled screws, bolts and other rubbish from it which has impeded the closing function.
  16. The system will self bleed on the Cayenne. The auxiliary coolant pump is an impeller type and doesn't click, put your hand on the pump to feel if it's running. There is no water control valve just a temperature blend door so best to check climate control for fault codes and servo operation.
  17. That is a good scan tool and will be able to diagnose your airbag fault.
  18. I only use Continental belts. Over the years I've used almost every other brand with mixed results and found Goodyear to be the worst of the bunch.
  19. I suggest taking the vehicle to a qualified repair shop instead of guessing and throwing parts at it.
  20. Isn't that the inlet for the climate control. There is a drain tube the attaches to the main climate control box on the passenger side which often comes adrift.
  21. If it happens again slightly turn the ignition switch, they can fail intermittently and cause many odd issues.
  22. Mounts will not cause a rough idle, only transmit engine harmonics to chassis when the mounts collapse and they will not cause a idle surge condition. Mounts can sometimes cause separation of air intake plumbing and such if they allow too much engine movement under load. I just think there should be a proper clarification in description of the symptoms and the solutions.
