  1. i have the same noise. can hear it without cranking the engine. is it normal?
  2. sorry to hear your story. regarding your options: $7500 give you any warranty? at least one month/1000 miles. wish u had taking some videos so we could have first hand exp. with this failure.
  3. does this car has something u really want? the price is not that good, condition is not that good, history is not that good. and it's a long distance. i would pass. there are so many 996s out there.

  5. are u a PCA member? please go to http://www.pca.org/regions/ find your local charter, those guys have a lot of leads. can you please post a video/audio of your start-up noise? your car drive fine other wise, right? this is too crazy.
  6. man, this is crazy!!!!! start up noise -> $11K eng. replacement!!!!!! please go see other dealer/indy, let us know the out come. i have a 01 996, and i have some start up noise too.
  7. interesting problem. so in theory, one can change to a "slower" speed sensor so the milage build up slowly. :)
  8. air oil sperator failed. search for "sperator" you should find enough info. not a bad fix.

  10. i am no expert. this is what i think: the problem is the boot cover. i checked mine this monring, it seems there are some arms to pull the cover back once the roof is completely folded. i think you should try: 1. visually inspect to see if there are anything in the way. 2. open the top, see if the cover can go back to its org. position when roof is up, if yes, maybe it's the sensor problem the cover can't "feel" the roof is closed already. again, i am no expert, just guessing.
  11. you think Armorall is "oily"? i used Armorall on my streeing wheel of my other car. i hate the oily feel so much.
  12. do u put any protection/coating after cleaning your vinyl? i have black int. i can tell you how dirty it is. the dust stuck between the fine gap of the vinyl, so hard to clean.
  13. do u see any diff. when out side temp. changes? ie. winter vs summer, assuming you fill u car with 15W50 for both winter and summer. thanks again

  15. can you provide your oil pressure readings: 1. car warming up. 2. warmed up idling. 3. warmed up 2K RPM 4. warmed up 3K RPM 5. warmed up 4K RPM 6. warmed up 5K RPM thank you very much.

  19. pcna will cover everything and u end up with a new engine. nothing to complain about :) it's scary to see story like this for ppl like me with a out-of-warranty 996 on the road. nick49, what's the trick? pcna fixed a MY99 car for free? unbeliveable. any more inside story can you share? thanks
