  1. I'm getting a set of those Pilot Sports this week.. My friends have them and love them.. You tires are obviously not the issue. Looking forward to hearing what you find....
  2. One thing I disliked about my car when I got it was how much understeer it had entering corners. I lowered my car with H & R springs. It dropped it about an inch and is a HUGE improvement in handling. Even before this modification I drove my car repeatedly over 125 mph and never felt the steering getting light...But I have had many Porsches so maybe I'm just used to it. I dove my friends BMW M6 and although that car is a pig it is much more stable feeling (in a straight line) at 125+ then my TT is.. What kind of tires are you running?
  3. That's too bad. I hope you can find a solution. If I had a M96 engine i would most definetly do the LN IMS upgrade.. I hope you find a solution. I have been in your shoes and know how confused and angry I was.. It all worked out though .. Good luck with you engine search...

  6. I have an 07 TT and that is not normal...My Turbo feels way more planted at speed than my 06 Carrera did,, What abouit your tire pressures? Sounds like something is not right.. Did a dealer do an alignment? As much as I don't like taking my car to a deaker they do great alignments and for not much more than an indie. The Turbo is sensitive.. If your shop is not skilled in aligning these cars then there might be an issue there...
  7. Charlie, I feel your pain.. I lost a 996 engine in the past. Seems to me that you should contact Porsche.. They have been known to give "goodwiil" on 2005 engines even though they are out of warranty. The 05 engines had a lot of IMS failures and had the "old design" IMS bearing. 06 + engines had the newer design.. Not failure proof but much better bearing. Porsche is well aware of the problems with the 05's.. Your didn't mention mileage..Do you have low miles? I would contact Porsche about your failure.. Sounds like you are the type that did all required maintenance at a certified Porsche shop. I would contact Porsche with all service records and see if they will work with you. MANY 05 owners (out of warranty) have received refief form Porsche on IMS failures. I have heard the the way to succeed with Porsche is to be relentless but polite and civil in seeking goodwill. I blelieve you have a very good chance of a positive outcome. I would start there. I'm reasonably sure that engines through 08 would be "plug and play" as long as they are the same displacement. Let us know what happens.. Don't panic yet and drop $20k on and engine....
  8. At least you have a silver car and black wheels. I have BLACK car and silver wheels lol.. So everytime you wipe the brake dust off your wheels know that at the very same time I am probably wiping off my entire car (again)...Arrghh.. :cheers:
  9. My PCCB's produce almost no brake dust.. WAY WAY less than the steel brakes on my Carreras. Plus it is like a yellowish fine dust and very easy to wipe off..
  10. Make sure you give your hubs on your rotors an extra coat of rust proof paint.. Zimmermans will rust and look pretty nasty through the wheel spokes. Just Sayin...

  12. Look up member "Logray". He rebuilt his own 996 engine with no previous experience..
  13. There are some folks who can help you with resources for your rebuild.. Hopfiully they will reply to your problem soon..
