  1. Thanks Richard H. Does anyone know if "with Reversing Camera" can be set by Durametric?
  2. Anyone know how to set the PCM for a backup camera? In a Cayenne PCM telephone Manual, there is a small section regarding the retractable backup camera. Controlling it is via the "AV" button on the PCM. Currently when I push my AV button, the screen shows "AV not available". Also I have a pdf that shows PIN out for a PCM (sorry, at this point I forgot where I downloaded from). I dont see an exclusive connector video in. USD$18.60 on ebay. http://dx.com/p/waterproof-ccd-car-rearview-camera-for-volkswagen-touareg-passat-b5-black-dc-12v-961184946 USD$18.76 http://dx.com/p/universal-2-4g-wireless-transmitter-receiver-for-car-rearview-camera-av-in-116308 USD$18.30 ps. No, I am not promoting DX.com and have absolutely no benefits from metioning them. Anyways, back to: "Anyone know how to set the PCM for a backup camera?" Thanks.
  3. I really want to put in a back up camera in my CS. I find that visibility isn't that great, especially with the, what I consider, high rear seat head rests. I am thinking of getting this: http://dx.com/s/154979 USD$68.60. Anyone with suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks JFP. I also see there is a bit of dust within the headlight "module", ie. specs of dust on the inside of the clear lens. Anyway to get it out? Compressed air??? Thank you.
  5. Just use this forum to get at my cabin filter. Will add to this topic with some pictures: "Porsche" brand filter... pretty well made Bottom "hatch" removed with its foam seal. The two hex screws were not 5mm, 6mm nor 3/16" nor 1/4". It was between 5mm and 6mm, 5.5mm maybe... so who has a 5.5mm? Talk about making it difficult for a backyard mechanic. I took both screws off via a pair of pliers. Bottom of passenger dashboard cover... One T15 screw holds it with two clips. Just pull down the cover after taking screw off. Filter compartment with no filter inside. Filter about 1/5 way into the compartment. Two "horns" on the bottom cover that fit into "holes" for support of the piece (see below). Support "mount". The power connected back to the lighter sockets and light.
  6. My Bi Xenon projector lens are a bit milky/foggy looking. Are they suppose to be absolutely clear? Its a 2005 CS. Anyone know if they are glass? Or has the UV from the Xenons clouded them if they are plastic?
  7. Hi, if you have the time please post what us under "Park Assist". My rear park assist is not working and I want to find out whether or not durametric has enough the details to identify exactly which sensor(s) is/are not working. Thank you.
  8. Thanks for the replies... Power steering fluid is about 1/3 the way up from Minimum and clear. I will look into the TSB. The description describes exactly what happened.
  9. Are the bulbs still working for you since 2011 or did you have to replace them again?
  10. Squence of events: - CS parked overnight in garage - started engine - normal - open garage door - put tranny in R - backing up slowly into back alley - as I was backing up I tried to turn the steering a bit, wheels pointing to the right - felt the steering very heavy as if the power steering was not working - when i was out of the garage and into the alley, I turn the wheel fully to the right - at that point the power steering was normal - then I proceded to turn the steering to the left to go down the alley, it was normal. So was this brief absense of power steering normal in a CS at startup? Power steering fluid was normal. No puddles on the ground (yet).
  11. The soft plastic part of my key fob is not in good shape. I ordered a replacement "shell" and it seems to be pretty well made. I need to take apart my old key fob to transfer the circuit board and the metal key to the new "shell". Does anyone know how to dismantle a key fob? I have tried a bit and am pretty much destroying the old one. I don't really want to destroy it. I can use a dremel tool but in the end I may just replace the soft plastic insert (the part with the key and trunk symbol on it). The key fob is built like a tank. Thanks... The items on the right of the picture is mostly the new "shell" parts.
  12. Yes, I took a look at the ones you bought. Looks like they may be short enough for the fixture... but can't be sure until you try it. One LED less shouldn't make a difference but you have 4 pointing down which is perfect for the overhead console lights. Looking forward to your report!
  13. I am trying to replace lights with LEDs too. I just received a few LEDs from an online purchase about three weeks ago from DX.com with sku=51372 (you can search with the sku on the dx.com site). These are too long for replacing the overhead console/map lights as the pictures show. They are also too long for other interior light "fixtures" too, including the red "fixtures" along the passenger doors when the door is open. I have also purchased (but not yet arrived) sku=51356. These are smaller and only 70 lumens compared to the 126 lumens for the ones mentioned above. They are shorter and am hoping these will fit and are also bright enough. I will give an update when I get them. The rear dome light is Osram K5618 10Watt 12V 41mm long. I was looking for a LED replacement but am worried about how narrow the dome fixture is making accomodating a LED Festoon bulb with lots of LED not possible. I would rather keep the tungsten bulb than have dimmer LEDs.
  14. Thanks BigFoot68... looks like I will take your advice... did you buy online directly from Durametric or from someone local? I have a friend of a friend that owns at 2009 Cayenne...I'll ask him if he will split the cost with me... share the software (allows three VINs right?) and get an extra compatible cable online if possible... or just get one Durametric for myself. My 2005 CS, have to: - replacing both Xenon bulbs, bought online, just waiting for delivery, ie. not driving the CS at night... not so funny..., Local shop $160. Online $40 for a pair D1S... I will see how long these will last and report back... - rear park assist not working, took off bottom rear valance, only had access to outer two sensors that were both cracked - repaired right front side marker light, was half full of water with a broken bulb pieces in it and the bulb had melted the bulb mount - when I took of the tire off to get to the marker light, I noticed that there was "stuff" in the wheel/tire... as I rolled the tire there seem to be a handful of gravel inside... wierd... have to get this checked out - replaced a whole bunch of light bulbs: rear brake, backup, front "side" w5w bulbs and a few interior light bulbs. Have purchased a few LED T10 bulbs online to replace the W5Ws... hope they work. - brakes squeak... makes the SUV sound cheep... received my Triple Square bit set... now I can do the brakes... and check out the battery. This write up seems to be quite accurate as to my experience with the CS so far: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2005-porsche-cayenne-s-long-term-road-test Gas guzzler, touchy brakes at city speeds, I am not "big" but the driver seat bottoms are a bit narrow, I think the mirrors should automatically retract when the car is parked vs. having doing it manually, the ride is a bit harsh since it came with aftermarket 22" wheels (looks good though). I may look at 20" ones with winter tires. I hope the stock power steering system is not stressed by the 22" rims. I am guessing the weight is the same as stock but the tire patch would be greater. I am not sure if the original owners changed the shocks or sway bars... or if the ride is harsh just because of the short height of the sidewalls... they are "/30s". But its a PORSCHE. The "S" is a monster of a SUV... 335 HP cool... its not a turbo but sounds cool (came with aftermarket stainless steel exhaust, TechArt I think?) and has the power even though its heavy. Test drove a V6 but I read that you might as well buy a V8 since you will probably step on the gas a bit more to compensate with the V6. So far I think the V8 was a good choice... the V8 just sounds awesome! Anyways, it has the aluminum cast pipes already instead of the plastic ones for the coolant... should be a recall... this was a big concern for me... obvious reliability reasons. I want to take off all that plastic "cosmetic" pieces in the engine bay... has anyone done that? Less plastic should mean more hot air gets out to helps cooling, even if its only marginally. I think an aftermarket vented hood would look cool. I can go on and on but that is enough of talking to myself right now... look forward to replies.
  15. "Did you use Durametric or a Porsche PIWIS tester to verify the fault?" Answer = NO. I don't have Durametric and will now probably bring it in to the local Porsche dealer. When the Shifter is put in Park, I see the double red LEDs show up on the rear and forward "green yellow red indicators" (it does the same when the shifter is in "N"). When shifter is in D, the foward ones work properly. I feel kind of dumb... I purchased the 2005 Cayenne S a few weeks back but did not focus on the rear park assist... the fronts were working. Could of knock off a few more $$$ off the price. As said on another post, I bought warranty knowing this suv can be expensive to own... I guess I should just bring it in to Porsche and see what they come up with. I usually work on my own cars but this is a complicated vehicle as another "senior" poster has said. Your advice? Thanks in advance... great forum.
  16. "A standard OBD2 device will be useless"... thanks for saving me some time and money even though I was going to get a Bluetooth $20 one to run with the Android "Torque" app. Durametric is approx. USD$300. Do "you guys" (meaning most people on this Forum that have it) use it that often, like once a week to check up on the SUV, to make it worth while to buy? I'm OK with auto mechanics (rebuilt a 4 cylinder engine and manual transmission once among the usual stuff like doing brakes) and computers, the Durametric will definitely help me to be in touch with the 2005 Cayenne S. I bought the SUV from a dealer and knowing that "This is a complicated vehicle", I for the first time, bought extended warranty which wasn't cheap as you can imagine. So knowing that I have warranty, I should just go to my local Porsche shop and "hand over the SUV" to them and see what they come up with, right? Note: I've never trusted mechanics and I am paranoid to drop off my vehicle. I always think that they may fix something but sabotage something else so I have to come back later. Anyways... have warranty, so go to Porsche Dealership shop, YES?
  17. I have a 2005 Cayenne. Just got it a few weeks ago but have to replace the Xenons ("dipped beam" error). I had a bit of trouble with the passenger side light "fixture/module" too but not as much as you have described. Initially I had trouble with the driver's side lights first so I know how a good one is suppose to come out. With my pass. side one, it was stuck at the point where it was just to come out, but didn't. At that point, I needed to give the "inside forward tip" a nudge to free the light. I hope "inside foward tip" makes sense, how about just "forward tip". The nudge direction is towards the engine. I kind of leverages the whole thing. Hope it doesn't crack anything if you try (disclaimer). Aside: Do you guys have to replace your bulbs often due to a stiff ride? I know I just got the vehicle and its a 2005, but I had to replace like 7 bulbs already (two being Xenons [Another thing, isn't it pricey to run Xenons as daytime running lights?]).
  18. Any sensor experts out there? Just calling for "help" again. Thanks in advance.
  19. Thanks for you reply WVICARY... Just bought the suv a few weeks ago. Have changed a bunch of light bulbs, waiting for an online purchase of a pair of Xenons, and a few T10 LEDs (for the W5Ws, hope the LEDs will work). Also waiting for the "tripple square" bits so I can get at the battery. Initial night that we got the vehicle, I put a battery charger on it. It was fully charged overnight but initially it looked like it needed it. I haven't charged it again and the car has started every time... so I think its OK but not knowing how a new Cayenne starts, I don't know if its starting normally... as in as soon as I turn the key clockwise, there seems to be a split second (maybe 3/10ths of a second when it does nothing) then it starts. Its definitely different from any other car that I have driven. Note: Had problems initially with the remote on the key fob... bought dollar store CR2032s to replace the originals ones but it didn't help much, ie. press serveral times, up to five six times to unlock/lock the car... thought both the key fobs were bad or something wrong with the car. Then finally bought Eveready CR2032s and like magic, everything is fine. Works like it suppose to. the dollar store CR2032s tested the same as the Evereadys with a volt/amp meter. "You need to access the transmission and Electrical/KESSY module for fault codes", does that mean I should get a OBD2 device? What is a "KESSY" module? Also waiting to the tripple square bits to do the brakes... still has about 50% but there is some brake squeak... plan to add some anti brake sqeak compound... have used it before on other cars, I am guessing it should work on the Cayenne. Thanks...
  20. Hi Everyone, this is a bit strage. Here is the sequence of events: - parked the car (2005 Cayenne S) - exit car - close door - press key fob to lock car and set alarm What I can see is the shift indicator light on the console (that shows P R N D) flashing very quickly but dimly. I don't think its normal behaviour or is it? Is the flashing light indicating a fault somewhere? Please comment, thanks in advance.
  21. I have a 2005 Cayenne S. Rear Park Assist is not working. I was able to examine the "corner" sensors and they are both cracked. I was not able to check the middle four since I only took the lower valance off. I think its weird that the two sensor have so much damage. Please comment. Do all years of Cayenne use the same sensor? The one on Ebay right now (user e-bacho) have different numbers than mine: 3D0919275D USD$39.90 I have also read sensors for VWs will work (saw it on ebay) and they are less expensive, True or False? Thank you.
  22. Are you referring to the Enthusiasts version when you say "Durametric can pinpoint the faulty sensor"?
