  1. Tax everyone- guess I can do without the cool factory. $ just doesn't seem to be worth it for me.
  2. '04 C2, question is outside of moving the wheels further out, are there any handling improvements? Is 7 mm front and 14mm rear correct for my car? Thx for replies.
  3. '04 C2 w/Litronic lights, can I just swap the high beam bulb with an appropriate Silverstar halogen bulb to obtain better lighting in dark forest atmosphere I live in? Thx for replies.
  4. Instead of threading a hole I just put a nut under the tray and tightened up.
  5. While having a nail removed and the car was on a lift I asked the mechanic to write down the engine serial #. He related: 1046375R which doesn't seem to related to the deciphering grid in the 996 Essential Companion book. Specifically the 0 and the R. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks for replies.
  6. Assuming this Lab is reputable, I just received the report on my '04 C2 that has 58,000k on it with 1,800 miles since last change (5w40 Mobil1) and all is way better than their universal averages for a 3.6 motor. Maybe a temporary relief as the car has not had the IMS replaced, but a relief all the same!
  7. Pfbz, thx for the above, can I assume I only need one of these relays? My OEM FWL switch doesn't resemble your diagram that I can see ( remember i'am stupid in this regard) so where do my wires go. Thx for taking the time on my project.
  8. Thank you both for responding! So if I get a different switch it should work? Are any of the OEM switches appropriate for a simple on/off application?
  9. Done the spoiler and turn signal mods (thx for all the tutorials). Now back to the footwell lighting. I purchased a cheapo lighter connection w/ LED footwell Pods placed in the footwell. I am using the phone wiring for switched power and ground. I have the OEM footwell switch and I know the wiring diagram for it. I don't necessarily care if the switch lights up or not. So which wires fron the lights do I hook up for the ground and witch ones go to the on & off switch poles? To my mind (sometimes useless) I shouldn't need relays for this to work properly. What am I missing?
  10. Is the OEM drain plug on an '04 C2 magnetized? Thx for replies.
  11. Pre 2002's had lesser interior than later 996, but the bigger issues are the IMS bearing and a rear main seal that is prone to leaks. Many used 996 have already had these 2 issues addressed, and some would say that higher mileage cars that haven't had these addressed may never experience a problem. Many owners have the IMS issue addressed with an aftermarket bearing for piece of mind. Cost before a failure for the bearing is about $2000 give or take and many replace the clutch while this is done as it is accessible. You seem quite mechanically inclined and many do their own maintanence. Oil change very simple as is manual transmission fluid, brakes easy, plugs a bit more. Lots of these on the market so look around and insist on a PPI. I am sure others with much more specific knowledge will chime in. Great folks here. Good luck
  12. By the way, I have no connection to this product, other than I have one and it works well.
  13. To make this mod simpler as far as wiring is concerned, I found an automatic control switch / relay on eBay for $22. It wires up to the lights and connects directly to the battery. Lights come on when ignition is on and off when car turns off. I velcroed module next to the battery so it doesn't move around. Search ebay for " LED Running Light DRL Relay Harness Auto Control".
  14. JFP, kinda figured I would need a tube extension, but even with a good shop light I can't see a drain hole. Am I suppose to remove the sunroof panel?
  15. I have seen the diagram for where they are, just not sure how how to get the compressor nozzle in the sunroof drain,,as I cant readily see it with roof open. Anything else I should know to do it properly? Thx for replies.
  16. Loren, thx for the download. In it it shows 2 different wheels, specifically for the front ones, 7.5 & 8". It might not make a big difference, but how do I tell which set I have, as I see no plain marking on the wheel, nor on the window new car sheet?
  17. I will be buying non-OEM wheels for my '04 C2 which currently has the factory light weight wheel option (5 star) Can someone advise the specifications of my factory wheels as I am going to place less expensive wheels on the car with my Blizaks for winter. Thx for replies.
  18. Well, while we are on the subject, when I stated I have oval Exhuast tips what I really meant was that the actual exhaust pipe is oval and hence I cannot seem to find dual tips that will accommodate the oval pipe. Am I the only one with this set up?
  19. I haven '04 C2 and I will be putting blizaks on this winter, although the car currently has all season michelins. I have a steep driveway. What tires are on the car now? If they are "summer" performance tires which have no traction in even light snow I suggest getting M+S designated shoes.
  20. Actually I believe I am looking for the Targa Blind switch part # for use as a garage door opener. Thx for replys
  21. Anyone know the part number for the above in mat black finish? Thx to all who reply.
